last year the wife talked me into a cruiser because we are getting old, im 37 now... so i sold my beloved triumph daytona 955i and got a vic vegas. its a sweet ride but its NO sport bike. well this year she got on only once and i told her that i didnt need the comfort of a cruiser to make me happy and if she didnt ride im going back. well here i am looking at buells, actually rode one today as noted in earlier post. shes horrified at the thing but she knows im not happy on a cruiser. any other "older" guys on sports out there? i dont need 150hp anymore but love riding hard. why a potential buell for me? i dont care for main stream bikes. looks rad. handles great. no chain. self adjust valves. torque curve(if you can call an almost flat line a curve). should let me keep my liscense. anyway im looking forward to getting one even though the season for us in the northeast is coming to a close real soon. it just needs a little more power that will be taken care of over the winter. | ||

At 37, you are about half way to old. Get the Firebolt, and get yourself to the track before you start thinking that you are old again. You are only "old" when you forget how to enjoy your life. This site, from what I have seen, is made up of a large percentage of people older then myself. A lot of these guys ride the crap out of their bikes too. | ||

I'm 59 (for another couple of weeks, anyway) and was 55 when I traded a Fatboy for my X-1. Like not having to row the shift lever, enjoy the handling, great real world power. Ride what you like and enjoy. When the wife wants to go along, rent and make a day of it. | ||

Hell,I don't remember 37.Wife hates the bike.Buells make better one up bikes and if she's been on the bike once in a long while,do what makes you happy,if all's fair with your relationship.I've been pushing to get her own bike.As far as bikes for old farts,check the riding position.Some that are aggressive can put your hands and feet asleep in a short time with blood circulation restriction as ya get towards them golden years. | ||

My X1 did the most damage to my liscense of any vehicle I've ever driven! The bike loves to be 22 MPH over the limit. The sad thing is, at that speed I am still more capable of avoiding an accident than any car driving at the speed limit, its too bad the police don't understand that.. | ||

I just turned 37 in Sept, and you can't pry my firebolt away from me. My wife has never asked me to give up riding, or even asked me to slow down. Even after a car nearly took us both out because the driver didn't look. I have to agree that the average age of Buell riders does tend to be higher than what the average Japanese sport bike riders age. It may be one of the reasons that the community feeling is stronger among Buell riders than any other brand I've ever owned. It's a funny thing, I was attracted to Buells by the technology, the people were a surprise bonus! | ||
