Servicing Dealership: | Cycle Stop Harley/Buell |
Performance Mods!: | Race E.C.M., Supertrapp silencer, K&N air filter |
Problems/Miles (Please be specific): | Leaking front wheel, found before I even got the bike, during dealer prep. Made me wait a week to get it. 2312 mi. Front muffler mount grommet kit. Received from dealer under warranty, installed myself. I had to bring in the beat parts for proof. 2496 mi. Attempted to have dealer reset TPS, for race ECM. Told "Cannot reprogram TPS at this time, due to lack of proper software for 2000 year Buell. Gary (Service Manager) to call Buell." 3215 mi. Tried to have TPS rezeroed again. Dealer still unable. 4000 mi. Told by friend of a mechanic at dealer that they can reprogram my TPS now. By this point I said it. 4547 mi. Rocker box leak, rear cylinder. Covered under warranty, no problems. Got me in quick, and out quick. |
Other Mods/Misc/Customization.: | Designing, and will soon build new shifter lever and linkage, something of a cross between 2001 Buell shifter, and Banke shifter. Plan to better seal air box, and in particular air filter seal. May, 2001 had 2001 shock installed at Cycle Stop Harley/Buell at no charge. Thank you Cycle Stop. I had to pursuade them that there should be no charge to me as stated in the recall notice, but they came through for me with minimal hassle. |
Favorite Rides (Roads and Routes): | So far, Big Moose Rd. in the Adirondak mountains was sweet, as was all of Rt 28. |
Why I do/don't ride a Buell: | I fell in love with the looks of the X1. I like the idea of an American made sport bike. The job you save may be your own, ya know... Bike has high quality components and performance. Very unique, a lot of people don't even know what the hell a Buell is! Thats cool. |
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: | Fix the rocker box leaks, fix the air box. I'm afraid my motor is gonna die an early death from ingesting dirt. Always, more power, but thats not to say I'm unhappy with the power my bike makes. It's a lot. |
