The Uly fits that bill quite nicely from what I hear... And you can take shortcuts no less : ).

I think we'll see the new frame on the "R" though... among a few other things that should be fun to play with ;).

There are Juicy Rumors in print. Anybody read the Eurofile article in May Cycle News?

Cathcart inplies that it's been Erik's dream to top off his sportbikes with a full-on liquid cooled V-twin Superbike as a modern update to Harley's VR1000, a 60 degree V-twin. He also implies that other sources say Buell has been working on this bike for two years and that it will debut in 2007, and with privateer versions too.

Of course he is not saying who the sources are of the rumors or the engines but he's implying it's not KTM, Rotax or Ducati. So, who's left, HD?

All I want to see is a Firebolt with a 1203cc or bigger engine that is square or over square.

I want the power of the 12 with the smoothness of the 9.

Everything else about the bike is damn near perfect in my opinion.

If you believe that I have this bridge I need to sell....cheap!
I'd rather sweat than bleed, wouldn't you?
White is definitely the FASTEST color Buell.

Of course he is not saying who the sources are of the rumors or the engines but he's implying it's not KTM, Rotax or Ducati. So, who's left, HD?

Here is a thought to ponder. Swedish firm Highland build a 950cc V-Twin engine for their own Supermoto/big traillie bikes. A recent interview with the company president revealed that they plan to increase engine manufacturing output to 10,000 units per year in order to supply other motorcycle manufacturers with an 'off the peg' 120bhp motor. They even hinted that there is a large manufacturer ready and waiting to fit the motor in their range.

The Highland engine has been developed over a number of years, and initially started as two Husaberg engines mated together. The motor is incredibly light and small for a 60 degree 950 water cooled V-Twin and has enormous potential. As an example, their own 950 Supermotard weighs in at just 166kg in road trim (approx 360 lbs!).

If history is to repeat itself as it often does. Buell won't be using that engine. Buell (or Harley-Davidson) "missed the boat" when they passed the opportunity to buy Cannondale a few years ago.

I for one was really hoping H-D or Buell would have bought them out.

Thank you

No, as far as I know there has never been any serios discussions about that.
However; it would be quite a bike.

If they are still solvent this week.

You kow though, that down draft twin would fit nicely in the XB chassis....60*, 120 BHP, smoothER power....

Heh, would be nice to dream...

}I want the power of the 12 with the smoothness of the 9.

BTW Nope, I prefer the rough, RAW feeling of a 1203...

With the 12S I agree 100%. That RAW feeling fits it perfectly. I even prefer the older style straight cut gear tranny.

Only on the Firebolt do I want the smoothness of the 9.

Well, I havent had a chanec to ride the 'Bolt, but, I am just curious, NOT being a troll... do you feel it would make a difference? OR, Comfort, just wondering...

I rode my X1 with Cafe style bars for a while, long trips adn all...and never did the vibes caused by the older style 1203, cause me any grief...

So, its more a curiousity thing, that anything else...

It could just be me & I'll admit that I havn't had much time on a Bolt but the riding style seems different for each.

Perhaps it's just a matter of perspective for me.

I see the 12S as a bad to the bone hooligan machine that likes to get down & dirty. She's like a diamond in the rough. I love that she's grunty & shakey cause she's a wild child. She wants to be tossed around. She gets off on it. She's a corner muncher!

Where as the Bolt is long, sleek & sexy. She seem's a little more up town. She hangs with the other crowd but does it with more class. She carves corners with a surgeon's precision & that makes me think smoother would be better.

Huh, funny thing is, XBs use the same geometry, regarless of the style, EXCEPT the 12X an the 12Ss those are 2 inches LONGER....

I am pretty sure about the above statement..gonna look it up, to be sure...

But, I agree with you there, totally, the XB_r does seem a littl emore classy..BUT, you cant get much more raw, than a tuber : )

The geometry is the same but the ergos are way different. The tucked in position with low clip on narrow bars makes the R handle (or maybe only feel) different than the upright wide bar S

Wouldn't it be cool if they came out with a new Tuber for '07?

A limited edition Retro Tuber. All the old school class with the FI & ZTL brakes of the XB.

I got to ride Bigblock's '00 M2 a couple times & that thing rocks! He changed the suspension, added cams & a power slide & holy shite does that thing pull and handle!
