Jose':

Thanks for the explanation.

I'd rather have the VR, with all it's shortcomings, placed in my garage.

I just don't want Scheibe and his band of idiots to place it.

I must say, win, loose or draw, there was something stirring about the sound of the VR's coming down the front straight at Daytona. Saves all the looking for number plates, you KNOW when it is coming.

Thanks for the wonderful account of Daytona. Next year will be KILLER!

"Yeah he's probably better lookin than you Bruce"

Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, isn't it? Besides, I was referring to the expression on his face and the gesture, neither of which is much of a surprise to the vet posters on this site.

In closing, I do admire the quality of YOUR discourse! "Oh, yeah, if I'm one than your one too!"

What's next, my father can beat up your father?

JQ,

Great VR articles. Interesting that Scott Russell said "it handles great... Like (at Brainerd), the bike was really working well in the infield, from turn three to turn ten there was nothing faster."

Then come to find out that "Erik Buell was one of the original development engineers on the project."

Not surprising in retrospect.

yeah but try to get him to talk about his role in the VR1000 program and he clams up faster than when you ask him what Buell will come out with next. Usually he says "Wait for the book" and leaves it at that.

Perfect.

What riders call "four shadowing"...or would that be "twoshadowing"?

Remember all we see and hear is not sometimes things we heard we thought.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

Wait for the book.

Housing here in the Madison area sucks..its either pretty cheap & a dump, or its high priced & halfway decent. Their starter homes are in the low 200's..hell thats practically a mansion in my town: D

Plus the plant manager here in Madison is an asshat...I like that word..thansk to whomever coined it. They have no clue or idea on the problems associated with bringing in 3 used lines & getting them running. They arent toasters guys, you dont just plug em in & go. As a result they are bitching & moaning because they made unrealistic goals to customers even though I warned them 3 months ago not to do that & to plan on a month or so of troubleshooting on each & every line. Then they want us to relocate here but also want us to put in 12 hr days 5 days a week...hard to find a home when you are always at work.

I miss Daytona already...I think I could have made it as a beach bum.

I am actually in contact with my former plant manager..great guy..& he is attempting to start up a company of his own with some backing from guys in the biz. Its going to be on the Georgia/S.Carolina border & I have told him numerous times that if he needs a hand he has my number.

I know what you mean about the housing Dyna!

We can't seem to find anything decent (not needing major remodel) for much less than 200k. That is pushing us down towards Janesville. A new 3/2 down there on a bigger lot is about 150k.

Here's my contribution for the VR1000. I got to make all the decals for the bikes and received this little surprise in the mail. I was told he actually had to go out and buy this issue because they ran out of copies.

"I miss Daytona already...I think I could have made it as a beach bum."

Dyna… The Daytona you visited exists only during Bike Week. There are, in fact, several different Daytona's; jes depends upon the time of year. For example; By late Sunday afternoon (last day of Bike Week) it can be difficult to find any evidence of motorcycles. This transformation starts with the liquor stores: Down come the "Harley" posters, up go the Spring Break posters. Also, the tacky souvenir shops replace the black T-shirts with white ones. Also, motel prices go down a bit. The crowd profile changes dramatically; average age drops by probably 20 years and waist sizes by 10 inches.

This transformation is interesting to watch, and by Monday is complete. Sorry to hijack this thread… Dyna's comment reminded me of a couple of times I had to stick around DB after BW.

Been there quite a few times other than Bike week..hit it the week after a few years ago & you are quite right when you dont see much evidence of bikes. I just love the year round riding..well except for the almost daily rain in the summer & the Hurricanes in the fall...umm on 2nd thought maybe Arizona would be a better choice?: D

Number of years back I rode my Virago down to Florida & the entire time in the state I only saw 3 other riders..this was pretty much in the Orlando & Daytona area.

If you think the change from Bike Week to Spring Break is interesting, you should see what happens for BCR.
