As alot of the OG badwebbers have gotten older and onto retirement and hobbies their bodies can endure. We have lost some of the greats! We need the next generation to step up and start handling it I guess.
Badweb does move in and out. Gets slow in the summer and picks up in the colder months.

Why would you say such horrible things??

I check this forum all day long while I'm at work, some days it's definitely slow. Somedays I feel like I ask too many questions for the amount of activity that's here, but then I remember that every question that gets answered on here is that much more knowledge that gets saved here.

I'm on a few of the facebook groups, so I get to see some neat bikes on my newsfeed, but this is where I come whenever I have any real questions or want to research anything.

I don't know how busy things are over at buellxb.com, but I feel like if there's anything that's slowing us down compared to them when it comes to new buell owners, it's probably just because that forum is a new fancier and user friendly. I've gotten the hang of this one, but it takes a little while to figure out how it works and to find out how much more information is packed into this site.

With no new bikes being made, there are no new Buell owners to join. And as current owners sell their bikes it reduces the potential even further.

There will always be a forum for Buell owners. Enough were sold to warrant it.

But will BadWeb die? That's kind of up to the administrator. Is dwindling membership worth the hassle?

I hope so, but only he can answer the question.

Everybody with two or more Buells, give one to whichever young relative has been lusting after it on the condition they join the website.

For technical issues and builds, I still come to BadWeb, but only to "Old School Buell".

I used to be active on other forums here but have grown tired of internet arguments in general.

The FB pages are great for pictures and trips, but is not where I would ask how to do something to my bike.

I'm sure some of you saw the picture of my black S3 on top of Mt. Washington this past weekend.

Best Buell site ever. Just refereed BadWeb to a fella I met who was on a Ulysses. I guess that's one way to do it.

I am on here at least once a day.

"I'm sure some of you saw the picture of my black S3 on top of Mt. Washington this past weekend."

I saw that. At first I thought it was someone local, since we have a Mt. Washington in Pittsburgh and it's common stop for people on bikes. Then I saw how nice the view was of the mountains in the background, and knew it was definitely not Pittsburgh.

Old School Buell and the classifieds are the only parts of the page I come to as well. The knowledge vault sounds useful, but every time I browse through there all I find are posts of people asking questions and no one answering. It seems like most of the knowledge that should be in the knowledge vault, is on this part of the forum...

Over the past year I've scrolled through the archives and I think read pretty much every post that seemed like it'd have useful information. A bunch I emailed to myself for future reference. Hopefully this forum never goes anywhere or all of the information I sent to myself will just be a bunch of useless emails.

Still a “habit” first thing in the AM, and as I wind down the day. Don’t “chatter” like I used to, but still watching.

Seems the face of the tuber community is changing a bit, except for the polished old heads.... God bless each of you (us??)!!!

I’m still working in the background on a few parts for S1/X1/S2. Just slow to bring to fruition. After retiring (yep there, I said it... that makes me an old head!) with 30yrs in the AF and relocating family and getting current in 4 different civilian jets, as I return to civil aviation, I can’t seem to keep up with everything.... or...

Still a passionate Bueller, but I echo the sentiment... is this place changing????

Selling prices are crashing while demanded prices are rising... ????

I’ve got some great ideas on parts rattling around in my head and wonder if it’s worth my time....

Meanwhile my Moto Guzzi collection is growing....And could soon eclipse the Buell collection!!

Still love my:

Badweb has evolved over the years and will continue to evolve . . .

I'm not sure there is another motorcycle board that has demonstrated anything near the resiliency and staying power.

Many amazing and wonderful folks have stopped contributing over the years . . . but I am in touch with most of them on a fairly frequent basis . . . Paulinoz, Bomber, Road Thing and many others continue to do amazing things and periodically come back to take a peek.

I'm preparing to dispatch my Buell and Buell related goodies in the coming months due to new hobbies and a new house . . . but hope to continue peeking in and remain active when I can be of help.

Badweb is amazing among web communities. Blake has done something few have.

As others have previously mentioned I am one of those that always check in at least once a day, the Classifieds and Old School. While I don't ride near as much as I would like to anymore just to the way my family has changed over the years I think as long as Old Schoolers keep our bikes or pass them on to others who have the same passion or develop it for these bikes the Badweb should stay around a long time.

It's dying folks. Guys like this were the heart of the community and they are losing interest. If these guys don't want Buells who does?

If you love Buell, and I do, you will always own one. But it's a bleak future.

That's a patently inaccurate statement. I was a rabid Buell fan when there were less than a dozen Buells in the United States of America.

Erik and I were kids.

In that time . . . I've been paid to ride Buells in 44 states . . met some of the world's best people . . . am regularly in touch . . as a direct result of my Buell association . . with people in 5 countries . . . and follow a host of interesting topics. I've shared the stage with folks like Bill Gates . . where I got to ride an S1 onto a darkened stage at the Cos Palace and discuss Buell technology and I've danced at the Harvard faculty club after spending 10 intense days doing a secret 10-day Buell project. I've been in meetings to hone ideas for new products and I've slid Buells off cliffs trying to keep up with folks who rode much better than I.

None of that enthusiasm is gone.

But . . . Erik is pushing 70 . . . I'm 64 and time and tide ebb and flow as they have since the earth's molten crust cooled.

I'm maintaining 3 homes . . . just bought a farm and am, at this age, spending most of my time in helicopters and vintage MG's. I've no apologies and nothing but the highest admiration for Erik Buell's genius and am more grateful than most here can fathom for the ways in which he changed my life.

Enthusiasm is not a function of how many Buells you own.

But . . in all candor . . . I've got a Buell that has what is very likely about a $10,000 motor that was blueprinted and include "gift" custom parts like cylinders from Ron Dickey at Axtell. The bike has been sitting for 10 years with less than 100 miles on the motor. The chance of me riding it again are about zero.

Ditto the 2008 Ulysses which I got as a birthday gift. The nice note from Flick and the folks at Buell is buried in here somewhere.

I also have something on the order of $5,000 worth of NEW Buell parts that I gleaned from Al Lighton when they closed American Sport Bike. Toss in cases, cases and more cases of NEW Buell t-shirts, several hundred posters and something on the order of 100 old t-shirts, lord knows how many jackets and cases and cases of parts . . . and you can see my conundrum.

I've no time to sort it and eventually life in the barn, as happened to lots of the old Buell Motor Co. stuff in Wisc., will take it's toll.

Erik's started writing and is on the verge of giving us the greatest gift he ever has . . . . the REAL story. I may start again as well.

But for now . . . kids, grandkids, and shuttling 5 World Gran Prix Dressage horses between the farm in NJ and the farm in Wellington every 6 months wins out.

My sense is that is you accused either Erik or I of "waning enthusiasm" . . . at least to anyone who knows us, they'd laugh at you. There are a several Buell owners who show up here from time to time to grab lunch while riding in the area and I think they'd attest that my enthusiasm has never been greater.

:-)

Wanna buy a good used Buell?

All I see is open road ahead and do not lament change, because it's inevitable. I know and love these bikes as much as I know and love the Metrics. But when the rubber meets the road and I am on a Buell, I feel cool, look cool, and therefore, I am cool.

There will always be Buell’s' and Tubers.

Hmmm...I wounder if the Vincent guys were lamenting the same thing, albeit on parchment...

I came back to Badweb a few years ago after taking about 5 years off from the site. While I very rarely post any longer, it's still a daily stop on my internet browsing.

I mainly check the Old School to see what's happening with other tuber owners. Also look in the classified for parts or bikes that might peak my interest.

There are very few people that I actually know in person on this board any longer. They have either a) left the brand, b) no longer need to use the board as a means of communicating with me, or c) unfortunately pass from this earth.

I'm still an enthusiast and will continue to preach the gospel of Buell.

I would never say Court or Eric lack any enthusiasm!
Crap I wish I could steel some!!!
Those two together are 90 percent of why we all love the bikes, story that is Buell. They put everything they had in it and I appreciate it all. Few of is in life other then family will ever have something so powerful that we put that kind of love into it.
As everyone gets up there in age I hope they start dumping it all on us as thats the stories, infi, dreams that carry the torch.

That being said Court dont let all your hoard go to waste. I for one would make tge trip to rumage through stuff to find some jems. I need some stuff to hang on my shop walls!
If you are back in MN on a trip or copteringin towers and such give me a shout we can get some food and such! Never got to meet alot of you and its a big regret of mine.

On the upside, I'm still (reasonably)young, just started having kids and now have the S1 that I've wanted for about 15 years(after trying an XB and realizing it just wasn't the right bike). I am still working on getting it tuned up and 100% reliable, and years from now once I have a little more time and money will tear down to pieces so every part can get cleaned, shined, polished, painted and put back properly. My kids will grow up seeing how important that bike is compared to all the other ones that seem to come and go after a year or two of riding when I'm ready for something new, and spending plenty of time in the garage with me working on it. One of them will hopefully want it when I'm too old to use it anymore, assuming I've done my job of sharing my enthusiasm with them.

Can't believe Erik is pushing 70, I wouldn't have pegged him for more than 60, he looks great. Still disappointed I missed him this past summer when he was speaking at an event 5 minutes from where I was eating lunch. The only that'd make this bike any better is a picture of Erik standing next to it.

Alfau never mentioned a haircut . . .he just said loose weight . . . I've lost 38# . . headed down another 40# but the hair . . . as least at this point, is staying . . . but, I did get a couple inches cut off right before the pic.

By the way . . . it has caused a bit of a problem. I had an "incident" in a Bell Jet Ranger the week before last that, owing to pure blind luck, turned out to be nothing but funny . . but I came real close to making the national news.

Yeah . . may be time to throttle back on a bit of the enthusiasm.

Well, my enthusiasm was pretty high when I walked into the HD dealership back in 1995 and saw the new Buells on the floor. Sadly the SO nixed the sport bike style because she knew me too well and steered me towards my sportster (which is what I went in to buy in the first place). I have never regretted that decision.

When it was time to park the sporty for some much needed love and restoration, I was taken by the S3T because it fit all the requirements for a new bike. Plus it is gorgeous. And made in America. I bought it with about 5k miles on it.

When I saw the Firebolt, I fell in love and knew I had to have one. I made a snap decision to buy my 2009 off of Ebay a year ago, from the previous owner of Mid America HD. I never asked permission for that bike and it went better than I thought. That bike had just over 500 miles on it, now close to 7k. The $$ is still a sore subject, but not as bad since I got a nice raise when I changed jobs.

My enthusiasm for the Buell brand has not peaked, but I must say I prefer the EVO versions over the EBR's. I do a daily search on craigslist and ebay for something that grabs at me. Heaven forbid I come home with another bike. The good news is we have a new puppy that will keep me warm in the dog house (yes it IS big enough to sleep in).

I came to the Buell party late and read everything I can about the history and development of the bikes. I never miss an opportunity to inform the folks that gather around either of my Buells of the unique designs and history of the brand. As much as I know about it anyway. For those that are interested I refer them here for information I do not know or remember.

My only regret about coming late to the party is not being able to attend all the different events and meet the people behind the scenes.

I figure I have at least 10 good years of hard riding left in me. Most of those will be on my current Buells, a future Buell or my Sportster, which is currently torn down and being refreshed.

I still have a wish list of Buells I want to purchase, but I made a promise to fund those bikes without damaging our financial plans. I have been selling off a lot of my computer stuff to fund mt next bike (or two).

"Wanna buy a good used Buell?"

Quite possibly. But I need more room to store my expanding collection. My B-I-L just built an airplane hangar in Desert Aire Washington and offered up some space. I am seriously thinking about taking him up on the offer because I want to acquire some unique models that deserve a heated space. I almost snapped up an RR, but the timing was wrong.

>>>What is it with old men and long hair?

I confess, at least in my case, it's pure unadulterated laziness.

A tinge of rebellion may have crept in when someone made a snide remark at work. I countered by telling them "I'm playing Joseph in a Christmas play at church".

Once it was "religious" they can't say a word.

So . . . .on it grows.
