That I have to constantly check tyre pressure gives me the shits. Is it true that PM wheels are porous and leak air pressure?

Check your valve stems, I've had several go bad in PM wheels. So far three, different wheels, all fronts.

Try replacement valve cores (the piece that threads into the stem). I had to do that to my X1 last week.

What I did today - got the battery strap to work right on my X1W. Somebody made a battery tray liner out of an old inner tube(?) which was keeping the battery from seating properly which then kept the strap from working properly.
Agita but problem solved by cutting away at the offending rubber bits.
Also JB Welded the speedo drive tang locating hole on the S2; tomorrow I'll drill it to size and we'll see what happens when the next speedo drive shows.

Some 3M auto body sealer works very good for sealing valve stems in rims.

Could be the valve stem hole needs some goo in there since I have tried most other ideas.
Cheers for all the ideas.

Alfau, i have a year 2000 m2 with stock painted cast wheels, & tires tubeless never an issue with tire pressure i check before i ride.
i would put new valves & if tubeless replace the tubeless valves .for safety, are they rubber or metal type tubeless valves? if metal could need tightening up or new oring seals. i have seen the rubber type break off at high speed, as you go faster they can bend with the speeds. not common but my friends had that happen at 175mph.

Alfau just read PM wheels think they are welded together but could be two peice like centreline , they used like a silicon to seal them so could run tubeless . also could be yout tires some tires loose air. not sure about PM being porous .

It takes about three days to deflate to 25 psi. doesn't seem to go much lower as far as I can tell. I always check the pressure before a ride.
The front has rubber Valve stem and the rear is metal.
The only way this thing would do 175mph is over a cliff. lol
I did read somewhere to paint the inner rim.
Thanks all.

ALFau thats a tricky one! sounds stress related to me , like at higher than 25psi it must put something under stress and allow the air to get out but below 25psi the stress stops to seal. & both tyres strange.
that bike was a full custom cover made from fiberglass stock R1 just longer swing arm friend was at Lake Garner SA on the salt when that happened was still increasing speed too. broke his collar bone they needed royal flying doctor to fly to AD treatment took custom cover off & his GF set a new Australian class record no fairing.
she has ridden at speeds over 175mph at Bonniville salt on stock V Max but forgot what speed was not her bike so she was lucky to get the ride

I made custom alloy mount for number plate & indicators n tail light to do away with cracked rear plastic on my M2
looks ok n strong n light. all i want to do is ride!!!! i took the stock rack off too i'll just use a small back pack for trips pack light.
plan a ride up to drag strip soon too my friend has a sporty think Andrews N84 cams XB heads that have had work n chamber has been modified by guy who i get to do my heads he is here in Aussie h. sportster has custom order pistons too ( one off ) has cv44 carb cycle shack pipes no baffles different than stock ignition. VP pressure plate the guy a good racer no wheelie bar stock foot shift will have it on DJ250i to tune
i'll ride up race him with my M2 as we love racing each other.
the sporty would be easier to drag race as lower, but will see thats half the fun. think my bike got 94HP but only had one run on DJ250i no tuning at with sock 2" pipe N4 cams SE rockers ( different ratio to stock ) but now has D&D pipe N6 cams stock rockers Dyna adjustable ignition & very high cranking pressure!!! i use good gas but no idea what power is feels faster up high i love it as thats were i ride 3,500 up to 6,000 from 4,000 to 6,000 feels faster n quicker with n6 than n4
but never been on track this set up yet, also i have those small S&S One way valves on both breather hoses but will let long black dyne tell me the truth!!!! & i'll have to ride for 5 hours no stop just quick gas stop to get to track. so you know its a real road bike!

Fired it up and took it for a ride.
No cold weather gear needed.
T-Shirt on under my riding jacket + normal gear was all that was required.
Not bad for Nov 15Th.

Drained the remainder of the fuel from this season and filled up my S3 with some fresh non ethanol fuel and Stabil for winter hibernation.

Since I have been unemployed I have been going through withdrawals. Used to ride 70 miles round trip every day to work and back Sometimes I take the looong way home), and now nothing but a few rides since late August. Going to wash, and prep the S3T tomorrow and spend some time riding the mountain roads. Might even stop by Alice's for some grub unless I make it all the way to SF.

Huck, what is this winter hibernation thing you speak of?

Today I pulled the tank off my Westwind and hooked up a temp tank and started her up for the first time.
I'll be sending the tank out to be re-lined soon.

Replaced the fuel filter on the X1W and I think I fixed the engine temp sensor which was throwing an intermittent code which tells me there's a short (maybe).
I cleaned the connector, hit it with dielectric grease and wrapped the semi-frayed ETS lead with spiral wrap and so far, so good.

Looked longingly at them in the garage.

Some guy in fleamarket selling a '99 S3 with a carb on it. Now, I'm no expert, but I thought ALL '99 S3's left the factory with fuel injection?

Am I wrong about that?

No, that is correct. All 99-02 S3s were FI. But several people put 97-98 tanks and carbs on them, among the other few changes necessary to facilitate the conversion.
