Just moved further from work, want to get the bike up and start commuting on it again.

Looking at my faring options... the only option im considering is a firebolt fairing/headlight conversion. I think it looks good, and with the firebolt bars/triple/forks I already have up front, i'll be able to tuck behind the fairing just like as if I was on a 'bolt.

also want the bigger windscreen for it.

any other suggestions that aren't too 'dorky' looking?

There's a neat one about half way down.

One mans dorkiness is another's art. I like almost all of the hybrids I've seen that use OEM parts. It might be nice to keep your hands warm and out of the wind.

Owning a 96S1 for almost 20 years (105Kmi) and an 1125CR for the last 5 years (23Kmi) I can say the Harley guys see the big headlight and will wave or wave back. The CR friendliness factor with Harley riders? Not so much. That big headlight is what they see. In my opinion it screams Harley. You may or may not like that. I respect Harley for giving EB a chance in the first place. I respect Hero for giving EB a second chance.

Would an old bagger fairing wrap around that big headlight? Gut, Chop and Section who knows?

Instead of firebolt, I'd use an 1125r fairing. Better headlights.

Id use an S3T, better comfort! sometimes you can find a great deal on one out there that may be cost effective compared to converting the S1.

My S3T is an outstanding commuter!

Jolly, I agree it is a great commuting bike. but I just wish I had more wind protection for a quieter ride. I raised my fairing 2 inches by modifying the spider mount, and added a ZG + 2 screen. Now instead of the wind smacking me in the chest and lifting my helmet, it hits square in the face.

I'm lucky in that my "commute" takes me to different places most days. For SF Bay Area commuting a S-1 would be a nice choice - you wouldn't worry about wind protection so much as maneuverability for lane splitting - If it is strictly utilitarian, just go score a National SpoortShield - they are a clamp on thing and work well - I use one on my "Bay Area Traffic commuter" - my BMW R80-GS (see comment above re: maneuverability).

I use an S3 with factory luggage and fairing for trips outside the bay area where I don't anticipate the need for so much lane splitting - the limited steering lock on the S3 can be a drag in "Waste Management Canyon" and I like the super precise feel of a 21" when threading the needle between two bottom dumpers...
