Before the fan boys jump in, here's a link to an independant motoring body's testing of said magical device.

Given the presence of 'fuel catalyst', you've probably got 'balancing beads' in your tires.

But look at all the great references the catalyst has from people that sell advertising space to them!!

Do you tie the rope to the hub of the wheel or out near the rim?

Are those rocks metric?

ok update on the bike. diagnosed it and found zero compression on the rear cylinder. Took it apart and the head, piston, and cylinder were totally screwed! see pics below. But i am warning you, pictures are graphic.

So im assuming the the sellers story of "it just stopped and i dont know what happened" was crap and it was alot more traumatic then he explained. Anyway we decided to get the new parts and fix this poor little abused S1 up. All parts from H-D brand new came to around $700. that was for the piston, cylinder, cylinder head, valves, rings, gaskets, your name it. Front cyclinder and bottom end seem to be in good shape so we are crossing our fingers that this is going to fix it. All in all my friend is about $1,500 into the bike. Still not too bad.

Any advice on what could have caused this? i think the previous owner ran it out of oil, and the rear cylinder got way too hot and boom.

Looks like possibly a lean condition is what may have started the down hill fall. The top ring shedding part of itself is what most likely bounced around in there, hammering everything it touched.

I would pull off the other cylinder and take a gander before I went through the time and effort of putting just the one back together.

On the other hand if it was run out of oil, I would definitely pull the other jug. Not knowing the condition of the rod bearings would keep me up at night too.

Agree with KC Zombie - Pull the other head off and peer within. However, OP says that Front Cylinder seems to be in good shape, so I guess he looked at it.

If in intake leak made it lean enough to do that on one side, it would be about the same on the other due to the common manifold, even if the leak was at the port on this head. An exhaust leak at the exhaust port could do that to just one jug though, as could some significantly screwed up timing (pre detonation) or some nasty mix of the two

I don't think oil pressure - . Oil circulation helps but the primary cooling is air moving over the fins. In the scenario you describe you wouldn't see the heat pattern in the aluminum of the combustion chamber.

If I did suspect oil pressure, however, I'd check the pump to make sure it didn't shear a key or something - actually more plausible than someone actually running it out of oil. But I bet the rods are fine, and you just need a top end.

If you are going to do just the one jug, maybe take a moment and balance the pistons at least - make sure they both weigh the same.

^^^^^GOOD ADVICE^^^^^

Another project I didn't need to get into…

I'm glad your not parting it out also.

U shulda pulled the plugs & done a compression test or at least looked inside : (

But for under 2K I probably would have eventually time for it…

Good luck,
Keep us posted

With that amount of detonation/pre-ignition you would be well advised to get someone who knows what they're doing to check the bottom end for you.. and it should go without saying that you need to do the other cylinder as well.

Ok. So it's back together and runs good. Everything sounds good and smooth. But....there is a good amount of smoke coming out of the breather tube. None out the exhaust. But a lot out of the breather underneath the bike. Could this be a simple fix or is this another headache. Thanks in advance you guys.

Ok that should be running straight up and ending near the bottom of the seat and you should not be getting anything out if it.

I would route it up and to the side of the battery with the other hoses it should end up near the oil tank then see if it happens give it a little while to warm up if it still does it I do not know we need a more knowledgable person then.

Ok now we are making a little sense. The tranny vent line runs up as I stated above. Those lines stock do run out the bottom but they spit oil not good in front of the tire. Join them together with a t fitting near the top of the motor and run them to a catch can mounted where yoi choose the lower the better. Here is mine I also have the tank vent going to it. Its from pegesus racing ( a gocart shop online) 25 bucks.
