If the Al you refer to is American Sport bike, than yes, he has a fairly thick file with my name on it. I thought that Al was selling a kit that adapted brembo's to the Buell front end. If things have change please feel free to point my to the error of my pricing. Years ago when this was purchased, that price was not far from acurate. However times change, things like timing covers didnt sell for 50 bucks, and original Dual Buell brakes sold for about what there listed for. However, if they dont sell, i can justify installing them on one of the Buells i own. Its nice, because ebay gives me 50 free listings a month, so nothing lost.

From what I understand, these kits are unobtainium. Seller's market. I don't think it is unreasonably priced for what it is, given what it cost when it was new and still readily available. I suspect that if someone wants it enough to buy it, they will be happy with the price.

Its become difficult to judge pricing on parts i no longer need, but for some reason feel compelled to keep. Some items i price higher than other, because in all honestly, i will not be sad if they dont sell. I have kept numerous spares for a very long time, and will continue to keep spares, for the day i pull the S1 out of the garage.Other parts have been sent on free of charge to friends in need. Oh well, if it sells it will be a kinda sad day, not like your going to find another one any time soon, at least i dont think so, maybe there is someone out there working on a replica?

In My Opinion,They make Money everyday.!
When did they last make these?
When did they last make a tube frame Buell?
Price is always reflective on availabilty, thus the price on this kit, or the price on S2s..The fewer to be had, the higher the prices...Watch Barrett Jackson, Im sure that will fill those in about rareties and prices!!
Just my 2 cents..HB

Well, i guess the good thing is, while there expensive, at least people will know there is a real person behind the auction. Any publicity is good, i guess. I am starting to think more and more about pulling the auction. Oh well, time to sleep on it

Start adding up the calipers and rotors. Then throw in the rarer than hen's teeth bracket that mounts the second disk. I think it is a fair price, or really close to it.

That is reasonable. Those Braking rotors aren't cheap, and those are machined PM calipers, not the cast stuff that came as OEM. That front caliper set-up had a very short production run.

My front brake set-up alone cost me $900 years ago using a mix of aftermarket and OEM parts when available...at 10% over cost.

Roger, I wasn't dinging you on the price, like was mentioned above they are pure unobtainium.
Cool as hell but WAY out of my price bracket.
I do think you will get your price but it may take a while. Then again maybe not if I win the lotto on Wed!

Brad, i learned a long time ago, never take anything personal on any web site. No harm no foul. I guess i was concerned that i might have priced them to high, or maybe to low.

I think if you sell all the pieces individually, you could probably get near your asking price. I think the big ticket item would be the left hand brake rotor and caliper.

I thought about splitting it up. Rare PM 4 piston caliper and mount 3 wave rotors, left hand brake. But in the end, it really deserves to be installed as one set up. I mean everything has a beautiful black finish. Braided lines, 3 matching rotors. I mean can you imagine if someone won 1 rotor, and 1 caliper. Could you even find a match for the other side. Nah, if it sells great, if not great. Figure i will list it a few times if need be, and if it has not sold by my Christmas dead line, back in the box it goes, stored until maybe Barber calls, haha.

has anyone installed one of those kit's?
i was thinking would they make it harder removing & replacing front wheel? also would they drag? ( make wheel harder to rotate freely? )
i think personally i would go with Brembo over PM brakes my friend has twin 6 piston PM's & needs to stop in a short distance from anywhere between 210mph & 220mph he does not think they are that good.

I would love to swap for wave rotors

Lets be clear on something:

Erik originally went to single rotors for a reason. It's the same logic behind the later ZTL brakes: unsprung weight.

The logic is that even though dual brakes are more effective at stopping you, all the braking force in the world is no good if the tire is skipping over the bumps and not able to use it. A lighter front end will stay in better contact with the road and--therefore--provide better braking in most real-world situations.

I am sure that the dual-disc setup was intended for the race track where choppy corner entries don't exist and maximum braking power now becomes an advantage over light weight.

Not saying it wouldn't be exclusive or cool to look at but, it defeats the design intent of the bikes (performance in the real-world over theoretical performance on the race track).

Well stated, Greg.
What this setup would really be best for is a show bike, and it's priced accordingly. Even for a wealthy Buell owner, there is no justifiable merit in mounting it. It's just cool to have stuff that is considered to be unobtainium.

I am still trying to figure out why you would invest $2,200 on brakes for a bike that you can buy used for $3,000?

it's not a Buell but has 4 cams & it's 45 degree just uses one piece crank & car type rods with Clevite bearings. & runs on Nitro. i just said it uses the twin 6 piston PM brakes & they are not that good. like front wheel off ground when everything is set right & working right, front wheel off ground full quarter then it hits ground & starts turning at 200mph plus the brakes have a very hard job to do, especially the rotors, as cold one second hot the next.

Erik originally went to single rotors for a reason. It's the same logic behind the later ZTL brakes: unsprung weight.

The caveat being, that his first run of bikes originally had dual disc brakes. There is story about the original supplier, ask Court about the gentleman in florida, and his brakes supplied on the RS.
And your right, these are race brakes, no doubt about it.

I am still trying to figure out why you would invest $2,200 on brakes for a bike that you can buy used for $3,000?

To be cool. Couldn't tell you why i bought them, but i just need to have them, and i paid less than 3k for S1W. Of course i paid more than 2200 on my motor, I have paid more than 2200 in tires, and i would guess i have more than 2200 in spares that i plan to keep. To each there own, I guess.

Don't get me wrong, I have a lot... I mean A LOT of time invested in my bike and have enjoyed just about every minute of it (except when I fell off at a track day...). I also belive 100% that Buell tuber values have leveled off and will go nowhere but up sometime in the future, and the nice custom ones will always stand out as a great bike to own. So who knows, to the right guy that brake setup might sell for a lot more 5 or 10 years down the road.

They look Great! I have the same rear brake setup, but not black. Better in black!

As far as 'unobtainium'...well, maybe not this exact setup, an but approximation of this kit with Brembo rotors can be found for sale today on some web sites, including sponsors.

I've spent double on my bike after I bought it, than I paid for it to start with. And haven't even started on the engine...
