I need to replace my header on my 96 S1 2" so what are my options?
And would anyone happen to have any!

'96 S1 had stainless headers and a black steel muffler. The parts in that craigslist link appear to be all one color, stainless, it would seem. All stainless, I believe, came in '98, if I'm not mistaken, but they should fit a '96 S1.

Rule of thumb is this:

If you have a bike that had an "S-curve" shaped header, you need another "S-curve" shaped header.

S2's are unique.

S1, early M2, and early S3, interchange.

S1W and 98 S3 will fit, but since they're 2.5" they require a different muffler.

"T" shaped headers (late M2, late S3, X1) will NOT fit. For example - an '01 M2L:

If the one in the CL ad is from an S1W, you'll need the header AND the muffler. S1W is a Thunderstorm engine, it will have a 2.5" collector.

I'm pretty sure if its a stainless muffler, it's a thunderstorm exhaust. Early S1: black painted muffler, 2". Same for early S3. Late S3 / S1W? Thunderstorm motor, stainless muffler, 2.5".

My '97 S1 has a 2" stainless header and a steel muffler, I think. I didn't look at it too close. The muffler is in storage.

Ratbuell's description is the best I've seen so far the next time this question comes up we need to reference this answer. And it will just about every 6 months.

No, just the stock muffler. It has a v&h on it now. I got all the stock parts with it when I bought it. If I did have a spare one you would already have it.

That is a pretty good price, I think it look like it has the 2 1/2 inch collector.

If it has a 2.5 collector the sides that bolt to the engine are still the same correct i would just need to run this a 2.5 muffler?

Yes, the engine port spacing is the same.

As a footnote to my "dictionary" above (lol) - all T headers are interchangeable, regardless of EFI (X1 / late S3) or carb (late M2, middle S3). The only difference is the bung in the rear head pipe for the O2 sensor. Drill and weld to add one on a carb pipe for an EFI bike; go to an auto parts store and get a plug when using an EFI pipe on a carb bike (or cut the wire off the sensor and leave the sensor in place as the plug).

Thanks to Jayvee for all the help!
If this is a 2.5" what should i expect to have to change jetting carb adjustments?
