There is a new M2 race kit for sale on Ebay. I want the race header and pipe for my X1 BAD!!! They are bolt on power, look really good, and must sound awsome.(what with all the fuss over them)

The only difference is the O2 port for the sensor. Correct?

Is there any reason I couldn't buy this kit (or one like it), have a 'good' machine shop man install the O2 port, bolt it on and go.
A X1 header would be ideal, but these things aren't laying around everywhere, and don't show up for sale very often.

Input/Advice appreciated.

Matt

Well since M2 owners simply plug the port on X1 headers to use them on the M2, I'd guess you could have a shop weld a bung in place.

Make sure its the RIGHT place, though.

You can buy the 02 sensor fitting that can be welded to the exhaust header in the proper place from K&N(www.KNfilters.com) ...

You just need to do the fuel injection delete option to your X1 then everything will be perfect

I'm getting an X1 header for my M2, and was going to plug the bung, but now thinking instead to put in an Air/Fuel ratio gauge (wideband). Seems like that is a whole different thread already.

Question for Ebutch, how to you keep the pipes shiny ? Clear-coat with something? Just polish over and over? Some kind of 'hot-wax' ?

But then you'll need to drill one for the front pipe too...

Check with your local Muffler Shop. New in the box catalytic converters that require an O2 senser in the body have a nice stainless plug that fills the hole.
