When I bought my 2000 S3 as a new leftover in 2005 some of the tank graphics were loose -- the dealer glued them back on--but no one is starting to peel up again. Anyone know --for sure -- what type of glue to use. Hate to use one that will ruin the paint.

They were double-stick taped on from the factory.

Trace the locations.

Remove the logos.

Remove the tape.

Install new tape.

Re-install on your carefully-marked locations.

The Amazon Green is BCC Buell Color Code 83 and all parts numbers will carry the suffix YE. For example, the Touch Up Paint is part number 96014-97YYE.

All Amazon Green 2000 S3's had a black frame and with a 3D BrBlackChrm (Brusehd Black Chrome)/Silver tank decal and a silver/gray body decal.

The part number for the tank decals is 13970-99Y. For the body stickers it's 13979-99Y.

If you need it the paint code is DBC-48449 which is a PPGPaint Code number.

2000 was a good year for the S3 with a new gear ratio, a change in brake fluid, the new flywheel, new lifter design and the new oiling system and brakes.

Just a guess on my part . . .

Just a guess on my part . . .

That's one of the most detailed 'guesses' i've ever heard in my life.

One of the luckiest it seems! If you happen to run across and 2000 S3 literature while your wife "HELPS" you clean out, let me know.

2000 was a GREAT year . . . . The s3 arrived in 4 colors with 2 choices of frame colors and 3 choices of wheels.

The new mapping and calibration of the ECM dealt with a lot of 1999 issues (I found some riding from St. George, UT to Philly on test mule) . . . the Sport Touring handlebars became standard and the bike got spring loaded foot pegs for the first time along with a new battery and redesigned side stand switch.

All the crap I have is pretty much internal pre-production correspondence, ideas, programs and then the marketing material as it went through development.

On e thing that was fun about 200 was the killer Apparel and Accessories catalog (part number 99383-00VB) that detailed hundreds of Buell goodies for all Buells going back to 1995.

2000 (actually in June of '99 when we hit Philly) Buell rolled out was the arguably the most aggressive years of shirts, hats, patches, race parts, carbon fiber and any sort of goodies.

My memory is poor in my sunset years . . . .

By the way . . . 2000 was also the year they rolled out all those illuminated signs. I found that catalog the other day that was organized into:

  • ROAD SIGNS
  • BUILDINGS SIGNS
  • INDOOR SIGNS

Ranging from 2.0 to 7.0 Amp models

Thanks Court -- Yes I'd agree 2000 was a great year since you guys took the time to build my bike -- so if I understand correctly you believe the right way to fix it is not re-gluing but to replace the loose "AMERICAN MOTORCYCLES" logo with a new one? Are they still available ?? Where ?? Fixing it right is the goal - I've made the decision that this bike -like my Norton Dunstall - is very special and is a life-long keeper.

You should have no problem . . . your dealer won't have them in stock but ask them to "poll" H-Dnet and see what dealers do . . . . . use these part numbers.

13970-99Y supersedes to M0776.K.

-99Y number is obsolete, nobody has.

New number?

Don't use normal "off the shelf" two sided sticky tape from a roll.

On the upside, an alert rider can actually see the sticker come off a 2000 M2 going 70 MPH on I-75 Northbound at the Tylersville road exit, track it, and catch it mid flight. Or so I hear.

DAMHIK. ; )

I saw a letter ("L" on the right side I think) flapping a bit one day on a ride and yanked it off and stuffed it inside my jacket. I don't have great reflexes so I have to deal proactively with that sort of thing.

Not to take away from our great dealership sponsors, but if you don't want to spend the $$ I found contact cement painted lightly to the back of the letter has worked great for me when the original adhesive fails.

I have spent considerable time on the phone with some dealers, first with our sponsors of course. So far I have met with the old "Unavailable, try Ebay" So if anybody trips over a stockpile, please give me a shout. My S3 is black, so almost any color will do.

Thank you Jim2,

I will invest some greenbacks, I was amused at lawnmowerpros, they say it ships in about 4 weeks. Does that mean they have to make it first? I'll bite and see what happens.

Thanks for the link

I've bought Buell stuff that I couldn't find anywhere else from lawnmowerpro's. They are very helpful.
