Anyone have a list of the hardware neccessary to put the X1 cowl (bottom fairing that wraps the shock and exhaust) on a 2000 M2?

As the description says this kit is for the pre-02s. I put the X1 fairing on my '02 without the kit. I had to use a hole saw to increase the size of the hole at the shifter pivot bolt to make the hole large enough to fit over that round block spacer. Then I tried to tied in the right side hole with a bent piece of metal (3 times), but the piece(s) kept snapping at the point I bent it due to metal fatigue. As one of my X1 friends told me "you don't need that bracket on X1s because they are so fast the air stream underneath holds the fairing up? LOL! So far, that has applied to my M2 also :oP

Safe ride,

I believe that there are two different kits. The front bracket is different depending on shock length and then which shifter you have. You can buy this bracket from American Sport Bike or your dealer. The rest of the parts are straight X-1, again depending on which shifter. Al's kit is the way to go. It'll cost out about the same, but all the parts will be there and you don't have to explain to a parts guy what you are trying to do.
Very easy to do!
Check eBay for the red fairing, there is one there now.

I think Al's kits are actually Buell kits...

I just bought Al's kit about a month, same price if you were to buy everything from Buell. Al just makes it easy and sends everything you need

Regarding the smaller chin fairing above, from their web-site, I think "Nicht bestelbar" means the equivalent of 'not available'

Al told me he assembles the "kits" from the the parts listed in the manual, I don't think Buell makes a kit for this application.

Kmbuell said there are different parts according to which shock you've got. Perhaps the shifter too, the X1 style mounting block (updated shifter) is two pieces to accommodate the fairing, the M2/S3 part is not.

I personally believe running without the front bracket will cause stress fractures in the rear mounting points. I got my chin spoiler for free and it had small cracks in it, my friend that donated it didn't use the front mount if I recall correctly. The spoiler will bounce around a bit up front.

If I can find the receipt or the mounting instructions it may have a parts list, if you still need that, just pm me and I'll have a look in the garage.
