Almost 70 degrees in Denver on Thursday. Took my 2000 S3 out for a spin. On the way home I pulled away from a light and when I looked at my instruments I noticed my speedo had stopped working. It just indicates zero. Any suggestions on where to start trouble shooting? Thanks in advance -- |

Check the connection to the sensor and you may want to pull the sensor to make sure the end is clean. The sensor may be bad too. |

Sometimes shrapnel from the tranny builds up on the magnet sensor. A lot of people have had luck just taking it out and cleaning it. It's on the top of the tranny above the output pulley. |

Thanks guys -- I'll give the sensor a look -- is there a way to test it? |

Yes, the voltage should drop if you wave something in front of it that is magnetic (like a non stainless screwdriver). Its a chronic problem with the tubers... the updated part should solve the problem, I think they take power from a regulated source now. |

Speed Sensor for sure, Any late model Harley speed sensor will work, the only differences are cable length. |

After cleaning and then changing the speedo sensor, I found my intermittent speedo was caused by a loose connection on the back of the speedo itself. |

Congrats on finding it. I think we'd have all bet good money it was the sensor. Let's just say it was about to go and you took care of two problems at once? |
