My 96 S2's Trip odometer keeps misbehaving. I reset it, ride a few miles, and it tells me I'm already past 100 or 200 miles - depending.

It looks like when the 1 digit (and sometimes the 2 digit) advances in the Tens position, it wants to turn the Hundreds position. But I'm just guessing here.

Anything I can do besides buy a new speedo?

You could try rebuilding it, some of the British sports car folks have links to speedo/odo rebuilders, or you can try it at home. How many miles are on it now? Mine gets a little funny when resetting it after filling with gas, but seems fine otherwise, a bit under 30,000 miles on the bike.

A bit under 30k on mine as well. I'm totally into the DIY rebuild. Not sure if I'll set off any anti-tampering tell tales.

My problems happen at the post fuel reset as well. Looks like we have twin odos.

If these are the old style "turn the knob" units try not going all the way back to 000.0 when you reset. Leave it at 999.9 and let it roll on it's own. My S2 has this issue and this fixes it. Don't know why, but it works.
