Because Djkaplan told me that catch can's were the cool thing to do, I went ahead and got this small snazzy CNCed one off ebay. Install was pretty simple. It's not the greatest setup, or the prettiest, but hey, for $25 and 2 hours of work, It'll do!       | ||

Nice setup ... I like the fact that you don't need a breather filter .. route the gases back into the cleaner without the spooge ... Only thing I would suggest - check it often - if it fills up the vacuum in the air cleaner might suck out some fluid still - I have noticed with my catch can if it is even half full the thing can still mist through the filter - Yours would go right back into the carb ... But nicely done! | ||

I originally wanted a separate breather filter, but when I couldn't find one small enough, I opted to run it back to the factory location. I'll try to remember to drain it often. | ||

That doesn't look too bad at all. I mounted mine on the left side of bike next to the battery. I don't have a dump valve on mine so I didn't need a clear space under it. Mine unscrews from the top and has never shaken itself apart. You were cool before you got a catch-can, but now you're even cooler. Hey... it's way cool how you ran the vent line back into the air-cleaner. I don't believe I've ever seen that done in the hundreds of catch-cans I've seen. You are still 100% EPA compliant as far as emmissions are concerned. You are so cool, you could stand on the surface of the sun and put it out. | ||

Made a CATCH CONTAINER out of a Black 20W50 container and put it in front of my Tag mount ... It is light and out of the way !!! In BUELLing LaFayette | ||

No. I'm using the stock breather bolts [PN29268-94Y] with a 3/8" fuel or oil line fastened on by hose clamps. I used a 5/8" Kuryakin carburator spacer [Amerikan Sport Bike PN16008] to give my breather box the necessary clearance. Then I ran the two hoses into a barbed T and then into a Custom Chrome 2" filter mounted under the shifter so it doesn't puke on the rear wheel. KK | ||

ok those are different than the ones on my S2. They come straight out so I'll most likely have to replace them. If I can't find something at the hardware/auto store then I'll just order the kit from American Sportbike. | ||

I spent $26 on this. I routed the hoses over the top of the manifold (no higher than any other setup) and it works great and fills in the other side of the bike. I used a cutdown "T" bracket from Ace Hardware to mount it. No spooge on the tire - open petcock when on kickstand and no spooge on bike!  The cheezy stickers did not come on it. | ||

I love the catch-can set ups I've seen posted on the BadWeb. It lets everyone use their creativity to solve a common problem, but the solutions are so wildly different. I encourage everyone to look at the tomato can, the beer can, the shampoo bottle, the coffee container et. al., and all the other great and whacky catch cans posted in the Breather section of the Knowledge Vault. Some are exposed (the wonderfully eccentric case mounted can done by Loki), and some are totally hidden from view. Some set-ups must have cost a few hundred dollars and some cost absolutely nothing, but they all work equally well if designed and mounted properly. I love this kind of stuff. Don't run the lines to the ground. If you do, you're a litterbug. Some bikes create a lot of spooge... there isn't any reason at all why it should be deposited into the environment and some very, very good ones why it shouldn't. I don't get preachy here too often, but this is one area where I will call a spade a spade. There is no reason why I should be affected by your ejecta. | ||

I gotta show mine! Here are the basic components...  Here's how I mounted it...  Here's what it looks like with the tailpiece mounted... Oh what the hell ... Here is mine on my M2.. (90 degree banjo bolts/fittings on carb side to clean up the look .. )   (overkill billet mount courtesy of Steve Mackay) I have an XB top end on my S1 so obviously XB rocker boxes/covers ... no catch set up yet - although I don't know that I need one - once the new top end was built the line was terminated on the left side of the bike under the tail ... nothing ever comes out and this bike gets run very hard .. Combined with a larger filter so I can keep the oil level very low in the oil tank, I get very little spooge, maybe a teaspoon or less along with a few ounces of clear water, every 3 tanks of gas. XB rocker covers didn't affect the amount of spooge as much as running the oil level lower in the tank did, in my observation. They were great for cleaning up the breather line routing, though. | ||

It may be just that the S1 didn't puke as much as the M2 to begin with... but I get next to nothing from the S1 now .. even before the top end build I didn't have a lot coming from the S1 .. I just replaced the rocker covers with polished ones on the M2 and added new umbrella valves - have yet to check to see how much I have now on that bike ... only put on about 150 miles since the swap ... I'll have to check that... | ||

I've been trying to avoid riding lately... After a sentence like that, I guess I better explain: My 2 month old tires have over 3k miles on them already, and we're going on a 2-3k mile ride out west next month, which these tires NEED to last through! Ok, back on track: With only one or two hundred miles since the install, I opened the drain valve, and some milky looking crap came out!!! not much more than 10 drops of it... but some none the less! I take that as a win! BTW: Great looking setups posted above! | ||

HOW THE H&LL do you get that sorta mileage outta sportbike tires? let alone on a twin???? If I get 3k outta a back tire..... I am AMAZED!!!!!! I bought BT021's. The most touring oriented tires I could find that would fit! They are technically 'sport-touring', and I love them! I don't race, but I love to lean! (read as, I get real leaned over in turns, but I don't punch it out of them or anything) I'm just over 3k, and they look about half done. I was hoping they'd last quite a bit more than that. I was shooting for 10k, but now I'm just shooting for making it through next month. I'm pretty nice on tires: No burnouts, hardly every 2-up, I'm quite light, but I do ride lots of straights.
