I was once a fan of Bill, here. Then he got overtly political, not just mocking the "other side" but offering really stupid opinions about all those nasty people he didn't agree with. But, hey, he's pretty stoned, and that's a better excuse than Joe's*... Lately, though, he's run into the wall of intolerance the side he thought he was on imposes to make everyone Obey and Shut Up. More steel and concrete stolen by crooked builders than the Industrial Revolution in Europe produced. There's plenty of videos leaking out of China showing the massive apparent building being knocked down. And more showing Tofu-dreg construction, where the mostly sand concrete can be crushed by hand. So those buildings have to be demolished to prevent them from killing people. That's not WHY they're being demolished, however. It's for taxes, cover up of fraud, and to manipulate the crashing real estate market. All with Trillion$ going into the offshore bank accounts of Chinese government officials. And their relatives and crime partners. It's hard to get worked up over the fate of billions of Chinese workers in deep shiznit over the Grand Theft Regime problems they face. But that's until the "short victorious war" fantasy takes hold of desperate despots, and they try to "stem the tide of revolution" with patriotic distraction. In Russia's case, it led to ignominious defeat in the Russo-Japanese War, which many consider to be a tipping point into the fall of the Czar, long bloody civil war & Communist hell of the second most murderous regime in human history, which conquered half of a ruined Europe... ( speculation, but... Darn likely ) When China announced the 3 Gorges Dam, I was reminded of the Aswan Dam in Egypt, and it's effects on regional power. But a better understanding might be if New York decided to build a dam on the Hudson river just north of Albany, creating an artificial lake bigger than Lake Mead, with zero consideration of the consequences of failure on the Big Apple. With Governor Kathy's donors getting the contract and using the Tofu-dreg contractors to build it... I hate to tell the article's author that Taiwan doesn't need to nuke such dams.
