A Lot, if not most, Earth Orbit crossing rocks are spotted by amateur astronomers. The big radars built to track incoming ICBMs spot a bunch too.

If the 2013 Chelyabinsk bolide had come in over London or Paris or Baltimore, it might have triggered a war, and even if not, it would have been a disaster of Biblical Proportions.

Good idea to keep watching the sky.

A friend pointed out that you could tell the level of Global Cooling by looking at clothing through the centuries. She's an expert on medieval & renaissance clothes, and organizes exploration/classes of the back rooms ( storage not on display ) at museums.

You've no doubt seen the meme of men's fashion with Cary Grant in a perfect vest, suit, overcoat outfit vs. bros in short shorts and spaghetti strap tank tops.

That's 1940-50's fall NYC vs. 2000's LA LA. From the colder days after the late 30's heat wave, to the warmer days in the peak years ( after the 70's cold wave, remember the Onrushing Ice Age? )

She was pointing out the 1400's multi layer clothing ( cold times ) vs. 1100's Viking age tunics, ( with leggings for winter, & pants! for severe weather, like crossing the Atlantic in an open boat ) vs. Roman & Greek lightweight tunics.

As it happens, my event closet has both 1450 & 1100 outfits. The Viking age outfit is basically a calf length linen tunic, with wool leggings for winter. Obscenely comfortable. The 1450's garb has underwear shorts, linen tights, undershirt, tunic, cap, etc. & is comfortable when it's 40f.

Greek chitons were basically a short poncho of thin linen pinned at the sides to above the knees, I'll post a pic! With formal & upper class adding a cloak.

From evidence from museums it's obvious, the Climate Changes, & once you account for regional variation, like Wisconsin vs. Alabama, it's easy to tell at a glance how many SUVs a culture had!

Never really thought that massive gamma ray producer singularity wells were mellow.

Time to get out my Deteriorata poster & black light.

That black holes may change our climate more than any government is interesting. ( especially the gamma radiation events that wipe out all life not underground or deep in the seas ) ( but mostly by creating condensation nuclei for high altitude clouds )

https://www.calum-douglas.com/current-book-the-sec ret-horsepower-race/

I can only recommend this one to hard core gear head nerd types.

I'm on page 300 & grooving on it. As a history of tech nut, I enjoy the very simple, and most complicated. For piston engines the peak nuttiness is 1930-WW2, & modern F1. ( maybe always F1 ?!)

This book dives into the problem solving and personalities behind the Serious Fracking Competition between the Powers to make ever more powerful airplane engines.

Basically the U.S., U.K., & Germany ( and Russia, but this book focuses on the Western front ) all needed better engines...

More specifically, WW2 was The Supercharger War. Altitude gave a serious edge.

Mosquitoes with 2 stage intercooled Merlins were flying higher and faster than could be caught. Actually running a secret Airline to Sweden, bringing back exotic metals and refugees of special interest. Imagine being loaded into the bomb bay, sat upon a wood crate full of cobalt, had an Oxygen mask put on, then sitting there... with no windows, heat, or information, as the wooden plane ouruns Messerschmitts 8 miles up.

Supercharging means more than the blower's themselves. Preventing knock/detonation at high boost involves charge air temperature, deposits on valves, fuel chemistry, erc.etc.

And the mechanical side of driving a compressor wheel. Everyone used centrifugal impellers, spun by gear sets at ludicrous speed. ( specifically, limited by the blade tips going supersonic. That hasn't changed. Propeller or Impeller, after that power just goes into making noise, not speed. )

Or Turbos.

Multi speed gearing, multiple stages of compression, ( one supercharger feeding another ) and then the... Mixture control.

Carbs, ( most British engines) throttle body fuel injection, ( mechanical, of course ) (most U.S. engines ) and direct injection into the heads. ( most German engines ditto mechanical as f@#$ )

And... : )

https://www.city-journal.org/britains-coming-winte r-energy-crisis

The British government decided to close natural gas storage tanks to save money?

In 1957 there was a White Paper ( we don't do that here, it's less transparent ) on Defense issued in The British Empire. In it, the authors predicted that missiles would make airplanes obsolete. ( true, unless you make really good ones ) So the Gov. decided to cancel buying airplanes. This destroyed a very advanced industry, pretty completely.

The missiles to defend the Isles must be in coordinated belts around London, along the coast, outside sizable villages, right?

Not so much. Expensive missiles would have reduced the Social Programs needed to feed and shelter all those unemployed. ( who used to make airplanes and cars )

Apparently having energy reserves was too expensive & now it's entirely possible that more Brits will freeze this winter than during WW2 when U-boats were trying to starve Britain of food, fuel, and guns.

Historical context can be a bitch.

Texas has it's own power grid and fuel supply, so...

It's good to be in Texas. : )

I'm assuming the deficiencies caused by bad management and wind turbine boondoggles have or are being addressed.

The fix re the great climate con seems to be in. The sheep are all on board. They won't listen to actual scientific analysis.

Nothing wrong with the grid. Just need to winterize the wellheads. They weren’t because, until last year, it had never been necessary. At least we’re not connected to California. Washington connected theirs to CA’s. Prices doubled. As predicted.

And since this year is the hottest ever in the history of the planet, it will never ever be cold again. Sarcasm off.

Hoot, didn't I predict that this would be the Hottest Year Ever? I'll double down & Predict 2022 will be the Hottest!

Since I can read, I know they uh, "corrected" all the numbers from the past and present to create the graphs and claims, so my Prediction is a lock!

You already know they're going to blame the harsh winter on you. Me too. It's consistent dishonesty, even when they change from "onrushing ice age" to " Global Warming" to "Climate Change" to blasphemy ...

"powerless week (in Texas) again}. Not going to happen, at least not for the same reason. What Jeff (Hootowl) said.

Plus it wasn't as bad as the entire state going out. We never lost power in Kilgore, nor did the rent house in Grand Prairie (DFW metroplex). It seems that places that had their own reliable supply of gas were mostly fine, some had to deal with rolling blackouts. Those dependent upon the panhandle and other north- and west-Texas gas wells that froze up were hit the hardest. Tom (RoadThing) down near Brenham was without power for a while. Family in San Antone got hit with rolling blackouts.

Tony Heller is doing great work. His videos must get suppressed on social media. He just shows actual data before and after the hucksters tamper with it. Then he shows the actual newspaper reports that corroborate the actual historic data pre-tampering. Given the recent statement by Google, his youtube channel will likely soon go dark. He's put his videos up on other platforms though.

https://www.youtube.com/c/TonyHeller

His web page is excellent too:

https://realclimatescience.com

He makes a few mistakes, but overall, his presentations are excellent.

#1 is to inform everyone that climate models are in no way climate science. So frustrating to see people fall for that.

#2 would be to fire all the data tamperers.

The albedo effects of snow were the ( very good, if panic porn pushed) rationale behind the 1977 "ice age panic" headlines.

The steps were basically...

The Arctic is clear in fall, and the water evaporated by winds over open ocean gets deposited on Eurasia and N America. As snow.

The snow reflects the sun's heat into space, and it stays cold for long time, well into a very late spring and very early fall, until summer goes away and the snow just keeps getting deeper, never completely melting, gloom, doom, despair, billions die of cold & starvation.

That might not happen exactly that way, but it's a completely plausible scenario.

There's also a saturation number where more CO2 doesn't reflect back any more infrared to the Earth, then over that it's maxed and doesn't matter, except to feed plants.

Most important is ocean temperature. When the seas warm they release CO2, like a warm soda goes flat. That's EXACTLY what happened in the 20th century. Warming, then higher CO2 independent of human activity.

That's why cold oceans in an ice age absorb the CO2 in the Dead Gobi scenario in the article.

Bottom line IS POWER AND WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION, per the United Nations IPCC. Yes, they said so, science has nothing to do with it.

And cause & effect... warming, THEN more CO2.
