How deep is the holler that a person doesn't know that? 57.8¢ STATE tax per gallon, 18.4¢ Federal tax per gallon. The STATE senate passed SB1 in 2017 to make this STATE gas tax hike affective in March 2021 so.... Blame Old Man Biden? Huh? You can think what you want. But here's a dirty little not secret at all. The incoming regime ( D Party ) was and is openly hostile to Big Fossil Fuels. Nevermind how much they take in bribes and give their patrons tax breaks, the Desired Impression that Party deliberately created is a Green, For The People, Anti Coal/Oil/etc. Reputation. Nevermind how much is lie. It's their branding. But that's not a secret either. That's the trigger. The dirty secret is that the gas station on the corner prices it's gas at the pump based on their best guess how much the next truck load will cost, & that's unknown until literally the truck is dispatched. So every gas station manager in America got up after it became clear that the price of gasoline was going to go through the ceiling, As The New Regime openly promised their followers and will continue to Jack the prices up until they stabilize. That could be June, (doubtful) or January 2024. Absolutely because the Party in Power has raised the costs of That next truck, and because Party Policy is to raise fuel costs to Save The World. The most generous, conservative gas station owner, or greedy Proglib, or any combination, can either raise prices, or go out of business. It's a binary solution set. | ||

And, yes, there are folks here and everywhere who have gone batshit crazy, eating pill bottles full of the blue or red pills. I choose not to take pills. All I know and care for is that I have buddies here that I ride with, brethren and sister (Char???) that I know and love, and all we do is ride. Some of us still own a Buell or 3. Yes, it is tiresome, all the drama and BS. Come ride with us, friend. That's the cure. | ||

If you vote, you better take the time to educate yourself on what you're voting for, and WHY. Elections have consequences. If you aren't going to take the time to learn what you're doing, then stay home and DON'T vote. You're doing more harm than good, by checking random boxes. Learn what's happening. It affects ALL of us. Thanks to everyone who thought "Orange Man Bad" and nothing else... we now have $5 gas (and rising), lost jobs nationwide, and an invasion at our Southern border that's going unchecked. If you're going to vote, you BETTER get involved. And if you aren't going to get involved...stay the hell home on election day. Or - more to this conversation - go for a ride, and stay away from the polls. Our biggest problem in this country isn't stupidity; it's not maliciousness. It's apathy. | ||

I understand. It's annoying when it's complain 24/7. Stupid things like trillions of dollars given to those who bribed the Congresscritters and President, billions given to Iranian terrorist murderers, and billions to Chinese tech companies to set up our communication system with an off switch in the Glorious Leader's office in Beijing. Much better to complain how ungrateful and mean an actress who married a fracking Prince is on Oprah. And while mrs. Not A Duchess Anymore does threaten your riding future by pretending religious piety to Gaia between private jet flights around the world to eat caviar in the very finest hotels in the holy name of Climate Awareness, she could be ignored, as she only has the support of billionaires, not actual power to send armed men to your home to steal your stuff. Otoh, the boring old annoying rich hypocritical American Politicians have sworn Holy Oaths to forbid you peasants from riding internal combustion & killing Gretta's childhood. And can send armed, masked, thugs to your house to shoot your dog and children while stealing your stuff. Could be your dirt bike, shotgun, or backyard smoker. I blame it on winter and not riding. Everyone is cranky 'cause not putting on miles. I know I am. Going to get worse as I have to head to FL for work this morning. 80's there and I have to come home to 40's and salt all over the roads still. | ||

Zack; when I lived in Colorado Springs, I regularly saw 70 degree days in the middle of winter and I saw snow on June 21st. In Colorado, you never know what the weather might do. | ||

There are a pair of gas stations that sit kitty corner from one another next to the I-5 on and off ramps, they're a mile from my place in Sacramento. The one on the prime corner charges $4.20 for premium. The one on the far corner charges $4.00 for premium. Gas taxes in CA are now about 50 cents a gallon. Most of the price of gas is private profit, and if you think it's too high, you can *literally* go across the street. Actually, you can keep driving east and eventually you'll be happy. Or not. If you live in California, you can choose to say the weirdest things and buy the hottest things and buy the most expensive gas, and kudos to you, I'm actually kind of jealous. But it's not hard to avoid price gouging here. You can even get around *without* a car and a whole lotta walking, and you probably need to lose some weight. | ||
