I can see how one would leave a society because of such.

Pike was a conspiracy nut who wrote a "tell all" book full of Satanic nonsense, that was presumably all lies since, duh, Prince of Lies.
I probably read it in high school, & did a paper. I did a series on the Masons from Myth to The American Revolution. Also did several papers on the CPUSA. And Alinsky, and the NRA, and the organization now known as the Brady Campaign to Exploit a crippled man unable to speak for himself. They were pathological liars from the start.
As to the actionable libel against a charity organization.
Masons were in the past nominally Protestant Christians in the U.S. mainstream chapters. The International Masons allowed Roman Church and Jewish members, in the past.
Today both are nominally monotheistic, simply asking you believe in the One True God, KJV version by preference. More inclusive today than the 1970s. Basically they don't argue about it as the history of religious intolerance and persecution against the Orders is well documented.
There's even a Netflix series, I think. I wouldn't use it as a history text! Pretty much Hollywood screenwriter imagination. Decent fight choreography examples. ( there, it's pretty good. ) Political thriller stuff.
Klan = Democrat. The Knights of the Klu Klux Klan are the action arm of the Party, founded by Jefferson Davis and other Confederate sore losers. Confederate = Democrat.
Of course, the Klan Party today isn't the olde party, it's been assimilated by the CPUSA. It's worse now than the 1970s. Arguably worse than the 1870s. |

Wrong. Separate organizations. There was an overlap in membership for a brief period of time, in some parts of the country. Not all democrats were klansmen, but all klansmen were democrats. Generally. |

I suppose some Klan Party members are actually Marxist and/or National Socialists ideologically, but registration in the Party is probably a requirement. I admit I haven't applied.
After all "recruiting" the "colored" folk to register D so they can vote forever Democrat ( no matter what vote they cast if they dare show up at the polls ) by threatening to burn their homes with their families inside, is the Democrat Way.
