I need to put mine out by the road tonight.

Thanks for the (inadvertent) reminder!

I gave up on trash collection. Admittedly, I don't make a lot - single guy, not a lot of stuff to put out, I'd usually have the big ol' can out once a month.

Where it would sit.

And sit.

And, maybe 3 weeks later, the truck would be by to collect it.

The County put in a refuse center about five miles from my house, so I registered there. Annual fee? Same as the quarterly payment I sent to the collection agency.

I kept the big can - when it's full...I plan a Saturday morning trip to the dump. Just like when I was a kid - dad and I used to do that every week.

My property taxes are about a grand a year. Trash collection is included in that.

The county done farked things up. Trash (with a $3.00 sticker) and recyclables used to be weekly. Then they talked about eliminating recycling. Boy, the public did not like that. So, now it is trash (still with sticker) every week - just put out as needed - and recyclables once a month. Most of my stuff is recyclables - I prefer my beer in bottles, thank you very much. So when I got home from HOMEcoming this year and realized that I forgot to take the recyclables out when I got home, it was a real challenge to not overfill the container for the next round of recycling.

Tonight's surprise - right under the recyclable container:

Wrote on September 24th: I have been looking for my spare Buell key for months. I figured out how to find it today. I ordered a blank off flea bidet today. After I get it, I will cut it to match the key I have. Then poof, the spare will show up.

My OEM spare key for Lil Red showed up today in a drawer I searched multiple times. POOF!, indeed.

With Thanksgiving Thursday, I thought it would be nice to fake a fire in the fireplace this year. SO, four LED fire lights 2 large and 2 small and 4 sticks of fire wood. I soldered a wiring harness together and then put it in the place.

I was jealous when you found your spare key, I was convinced I left my keys in the seat lock and lost them when I rode off using the spare set.
A few days ago I dug my Buell snap jacket out of the cold gear pile and there they were in a pocket!!!

2020 sucks a little less.

Zac, You would have found them earlier if you bought a blank and fashioned it into an operational talisman. We make our own luck sometimes.

Brad, It looks better in person than the video makes it look.

Well, One of the last things Crusty said was take it easy for the first 100 miles. I pulled Lil Red out of the garage for a 55 degree easy ride. Down the drive and into the street. I was being gentle when I ran through the oil puddle the trash truck left at the bottom of my drive and I gently turned across the tar snake, all couple feet of it. Lined the oil and snake up perfect and down went Lil Red. There went my highway peg.

Nope, Counting my blessings. Left side highway peg and bracket caught most of the energy transfer. Scuff on the left Rizoma mirror. I've used a 600 stone and got it smooth enough for a drop of black paint. I'll get the airbrush out later. The shifter touched the ground enough for a 1/4" hole in the rubber peg and scuffed the side case plug for the clutch with the back of the shift lever. Hard to notice till looking real close. The tilt sensor worked fine. I took the highway peg brackets off for now. Rode around the neighborhood and put it back in the garage.

Wellll, it's time for another project. My wife is OCD when it comes to mold. It was rental property at one time. There was a small place at the base of the tub behind the trim. It is all dry and there is a washing machine hook-up on the other side of the wall. I have to replace all the dri-wall in the bathroom. So, I know it has to be done. If that is happening, I am getting a soaking tub. A tub without those silly arm rests. It has to be at least 17" deep. I like a long bath more than most. Let the gutting begin.

Here's what I've got- chineseium soaker, adequate and sufficient, bought 3 years ago. Price is +150 over what we paid back then.

RD, I'm sure you'll get lucky on a better option.

Do you have any pictures of the damage? We need to know how those highway pegs work in case of crash.

That's good, it had not teared the engine apart.

Most of the impact was that left peg and plate. I'm glad it was there. When it touched down the engine was still idling high from starting up. It bumped into second gear and left me by myself. It slid 20 feet with that burst of energy.

Know what it looks like after you remove it?

Now to fix all that was hid by the popcorn.

A little sanding and a few more muddings and sandings. Then back to removing dri-wall. I put the cloud light in so I can see during the project. Popcorn was a fad I hated.
