You go right ahead and accept that. The rest of us will continue to live in the real world, with science, and the fact that this is just another member of the coronavirus family (which has been around for millenia), and which we'll find medicine for, and vaccines against, in very short order. I want to know what the MORTALITY ratio is - screw the case count, we know that's going to go up (well...those of us who are capable of thought, know that) as testing goes up. What's happening to the mortality rate? Last I checked, it was still going down...despite case counts going up. Another number nobody seems to care about, is the RECOVERED count. Probably because that gives hope. | ||

Funny you should ask. I've been tracking in a spreadsheet since 7/1 the daily data from WHS for both Wisconsin and my county. 7/1 Mortality for Positive tests was 2.69% statewide and 2.86% countywide. With about 10% of the population tested. 10/26, those numbers are .89% for state and 1.5% for county. Total tests are completed for ~34% and 43% by population. | ||

Well there ya go. Current fatality is 1/3 what you started tracking for your state, and just about half the original number for your county. But that'll never make the press. CASE COUNTS. RUSSIA. A quick search even on liberal leaning Google shows lots of articles including the term "death rate," many of them good news. I suppose people want to play it safe and avoid getting sick in the first place. The first line of defense would seem to be limiting your exposure to sick people around you and those behaviors are closely associated to active cases around you. It is as if the cases count is like the stock market for heath in the absence of a vaccine. People want to know if it's up or down. | ||

I don't think people WANT to know...I think people want to get the hell back to daily life. I think the PRESS, and the DEMOCRATS, want to instill everyone with a sense of fear through a constant drumbeat of "casescasescasesCASES", to keep people scared and cowering in their basements. Like Just Joe. And, keep 'em all home so they have to vote by mail...so the ballots can get intercepted and properly-harvested, after the choices are "corrected"... Am I pessimistic? I agree people want to get back to normalcy. That is effectively hinged on widespread distribution of a vaccine and there is little disagreement on that. In the meantime you can call following CDC recommended practices as "being scared," I prefer to call it "being prepared." Republicans also harvest votes and all harvesters should be prosecuted. | ||
