Being confined to liberal cities isolates people from exposure to viewpoints that challenge their core beliefs. Public schooling also exacerbates isolation, since public discourse is constricted to what is allowed by the curriculum of Leftist professors. What is being taught in schools is Marxist revolution. Western civilisation is vilified as an evil, patriarchal system of oppression. Students internalise this oppressor/oppressed dichotomy and take it to the streets to overthrow the system. To them, Trump is the embodiment of this system, hence Orange Man Bad. There is no reasoning with them, since reasoning, logic and facts are viewed as a tool of the patriarchy. They reject dialectic (logic and facts) in favour of rhetoric (passion and emotion). They are trying to smash the system by provoking revolution. What is interesting about this revolution in progress is how basically the entire leftist media apparatus is on board with it. This goes to show again how sheltered their lives must be for them to support revolutionaries instead of supporting the people and small business owners. | ||

Blake, I saw a documentary on swords in cinema narrated by John Rhys Davies that got into how utterly brutal the damage those weapons produced in real life. And how the martial arts versions of swordplay, like Kendo & Fencing, are usually the Gentleman's/aristocratic dueling versions. Limited, restrained, polite... In stark contrast to real combat with big nasty knives. In the SCA we use "safe" rattan instead of blunted steel swords & armor to allow full contact power levels, with polite rules. No kicking or grappling. Other European heritage groups use different weapons/rules/limits to the same goal. Having someone alive to fight tomorrow. ( and drink with after the tournament ) In the real world the winner of a knife fight goes to the hospital. In the SCA the loser has an ice pack and a mug of mead. Those of us that study the sword are well aware of how unrealistic the results of our limited play are. But that's authentic, in it's own way. Roman soldiers practiced with wooden swords and linen armor. Bruises teach. In combat there are entrails to trip over and near severed limbs. See the blade making tv "reality shows" like Forged in Fire where they hack at carcasses to test the blades. ( one winner camps across the street at Pennsic ) If the police line, or my household melee team,  were confronting the rioters with real swords the carnage would be shocking. Just with Billy clubs, and unchecked by rules of polite peace keeping restraint, there'd be bodies and permanently disabled littering the streets. The rioters, revolutionary thugs, are maiming and murdering with their weapons now. The police, especially the reviled by the Leftist $%&- politicians, ones that are protecting the workers at the Federal buildings are models of restraint. A Roman Legion in the same position would have emptied The area of living thugs. I'm personally avoiding the riots. Too old to go to prison. | ||

Hoot, I do not think the officer will be found not guilty. If he takes the trial that far, the jury will convict him of a felony of some sort. Even if the jury doesn't want to, I believe they will be leaned on heavily and forced to convict. | ||

Perhaps in my naivete I assumed a jury of citizens would reject pressure from the mob, and hand down a verdict based on evidence presented. Silly me. | ||

Hoot, Remember the Scott Peterson trial? The prosecution couldn't get a conviction based solely on the evidence presented. It was a hung jury. So the prosecution got one of the jurors removed. That didn't work. They replaced two more before they finally got the verdict they wanted. I look for the same to happen in this case. And yes, if you truly believe the jury will reject all pressure from the mob and government officials, then in my opinion you are being naive. I hope I'm wrong. | ||

A real American, on a Jury, would probably go to the Judge, ( The Bailiff would deliver a message ) asking for a clarification on a point of law. "I feel the Jury is being illegally pressured, how do I deal with this?" Or, he'd make an impassioned speech to the Jury, asking for their support, and then inform the Judge of the decision, and the need for serious protection, to try and deal with.... It's risky, it's entirely possible that that Juror would be doxed, his life and family threatened, and even murdered/kidnapped/assaulted to shut him up or take revenge. Someone with a hostage to fortune, children, wife, elderly parents, is taking a tremendous risk when dealing with utterly ruthless Marxist indoctrinated useful idiots. I'm sure you can consider this opinion Naive and/or Cynical. Mea Culpa. | ||

As to being found not guilty? I'd need to see the actual evidence, and not filtered through the Media. I'm not going to be on that Jury, so... I won't know, ever. I will say that the initial reports and partial videos look really bad. Even if utterly justified to hold a man down because he keeps trying to get back up and kill you, the "optics" on this are horrible. Add in the rumor that the one policeman seen kneeling on him has a dispute involving a woman with the dead criminal, and it's Soap Opera Time. Does Not Look Good. The bottom line is that more than one person dies every year because of pre-existing medical issues while being violently arrested. This is, and has been, a real problem for as long as we've had police/guards/whatever word for peacekeeper/enforcers in human society. You know, the big guy in the cave who was muscle for The Boss? If there's any solution it's training, but even there, it's going to happen because lying about being hurt or sick has been a standard method of escape, back to the freaking Cave. ( POW/Crime/War/Western/Bollywood/etc/ movies. ) I can see the harsh reality here, in multiple directions, but it's a genuinely real problem, if rare, and I don't have a good answer... And Maybe neither does anyone else, and someone less Cynical as I am is likely to be filled with uncontrollable rage in the face of tragedy caused by resented people in power and their own failure to comprehend/solve the issues. | ||

As someone who has been double tapped with a pair of tasers in police hands, I can testify that it is so much easier to comply with lawful orders, (Especially if you are in the wrong. - And I was.), than not comply. Luckily, I no longer had any weapons when this happened, which I suspect is the only reason I wasn't shot... While I most certainly do not believe in police brutality, I do believe that the majority of the time, people get treated by police the way they deserve, and often better. In my drinking days I had a number of encounters with the police, and by and large they treated me better than I deserved. I'm not saying it goes that way all the time, but I could have been rung up a couple of times for felonies and wasn't. YMMV... | ||
