The reason people buy so much TP at the moment is they usually buy small amount of TP each week during shopping. But now they are not planning to do shopping each week because of fear of coronavirus exposure. So they bought a lot of TP and are planning to seat home without shopping. | ||

They did not buy perishable products. But they did buy pasta, rice and another non perishable products. The supermarkets are low not only on TP, they are low on water and non perishable products. People are not going to buy a lot of eggs because of they can not be stored for long time. (Message edited by TPEHAK on March 13, 2020) | ||

TP is a first world luxury item, that when you can't get it, you will miss it. I've been preaching, you need enough of everything to get by for 2 weeks, or better yet, a month. Talked to my mom today. She said she was going to town to get TP. I just told her I've got her covered. Shelves have been cleared. Too late to stock up now. One reason to get some extra. We did stock up on beer and JD yesterday. I'm dipping into the JD already! It's going to be a long spring break! | ||

Because of the volume, that can spoil if not used in a timely manner, I prefer the foil packs. But #10 cans are a good idea for a larger family. BJ's TP & paper towel ( in rolls ) was out. Empty shelves and long lines. No one wanted to do a sing along to "The End Of The World As We Know It", but I was able to amuse a few crying children. No problems with some staples, like coffee & Peanut Butter. Sugar was gone. This too shall pass. "Incited to panic due to exaggerated claims in the Media" sums up the last few years.... | ||

Imagine electricity generating stations workers and water supplier workers can not work due to coronavirus - there will be no water, no electricity, no internet, no information access, no food. Local courts are semi closed. Instead of grand juries, they are substituting hearings. In other words, several people are going to get off, in time because their rights were violated. But that's a matter of live & learn. Frankly, the Governor is just trying to look good. How much of his choices to disrupt society are good ideas from smart doctors and how much is his desire to affect elections is arguable. ( It's not like he's going to admit being evil. ) | ||

So I guess it's not partisan to speculate they are idiots who didn't consider anyone might disobey their orders and walk away from an unsecured motel. Won't bother with speculation about their stand on borders, etc. It's spelled out pretty well. Do appreciate the efforts to prevent children falling out of windows. The cynic in me suspects it's trying to thwart Darwin, but it's certainly well intended.  Are you doomed? Sure, whatever. I could do an essay on how the greater good vs. freedom of movement is a real dilemma in times of war and epidemic, but incompetence may be a bigger factor than idealism in this case. My fear is Pooh's Breath sweeping through the homeless ghettos. Retirement homes are scary enough, with anticipated high mortality rates, but they are relatively easy to contain. It would be ironic as heck if that guy was the trigger for a serious mass outbreak after I minimized your concern so cavailierly. So I'll apologize ahead of time, sincerely, and wish you good luck. | ||

I would avoid public transportation on any cost. I use bicycle and motorcycle for commute. Fun fact - they tested the shoplifter for coronavirus but they do not know his identity. How do they recognize him for the test? (Message edited by TPEHAK on March 14, 2020) | ||

This time next Saturday I'm expected to attend a wedding. 70 guests or less. My 85 YO aunt, who just had a minor stroke last Sunday, it's her granddaughter getting married. A lifelong smoker with COPD, angina, etc. M and I are struggling to decide whether to go. My work had lost all of the scheduled private dining events for the forseeable future. Thank God I've had a strong year so far. Our main performance venues have cancelled for the next several weeks. If I find myself with some significant time off, perfect time to get started on the yard and garden, maybe go on some MC rides. | ||
