My suspension of disbelief is suspended for that "weiner" image. Very cool, even though mispel. |

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/weiner Huh. Learned something new today. That's one problem with the English language. Most? of the words are stolen from other, mostly European languages, or if not stolen, are spelled differently over time. Old English is nearly impossible. You have to treat it like a foreign language and there's lots of mangled Norse. Middle English, which I fear I've lost due to disuse, is a lot like being dropped in a lost valley in the Appalachians, with brain damage. ( not an insult, the Scots & Irish that settled there originally, had a similar dialect, and you keep hitting words that mean nothing today ) I learned a bit of Middle English to read Chaucer, decades ago, and know folk that are conversational in it, which is only slightly less nutty than learning Klingon. ( which has a very logical grammar structure, being created in the late 20th century albeit with many loan words. Easier to learn than English ) Alas, disuse has erased all that work. I did give Old English a try, to read Beowulf in the original, and gave up. I don't know Klingon or Elvish, either. Although... There is the case where an American guy met a Swedish gal at a Con, they fell in love, and got married. For a couple of years while they learned each other's languages, they communicated entirely in Klingon. That's a courtship sure to have frightened waiters. Old English, IMHO, is beautiful. Once upon a time I had a copy of Beowulf in Old English. Sounded like a mix between German, Swedish, Flowers, a pinch of Latin, and Death Metal. At least when I read it |

Lots of Death Metal. Before anyone complains, I have to confess that at least 70% of all rock lyrics and close to 99% of Metal... I don't understand a word. I'm constantly amazed at how utterly wrong I got the lyrics to lots of pop music. Some bands, like Kansas, Heart, Lorde, I get most of the lines. There are entire decades I haven't a clue. So... https://jpahonen.com/belzebubs-band The Video is great! Not safe for work, people avoiding satan humor, or impressionable youth. https://belzebubs.com/docvmentary Not really my cuppa, but jokes about loud sex scaring the monsters under your bed..... Because the visor was replaced by ocular prosthetic implants in the last three films. |
