Are there any plans yet for a 2019 Homecoming?

Given this October its been 10 years since HD shut down Buell, I suggest a day trip to the HD museum.

Yes, its a little like feeding the dog that bit you, but I think it might be good to remind them 3% is still a big number, and there is a market they are teasing product to. If they see us as a potential market for those newfangled bikes, They might be willing to invest more on the front end and step up their game to guarantee the products can live up to the promise.

We may be bastard cousins, but we're still family. If we showed up en masse' with advance warning, they might actually do something nice for us, like a Buell Homecoming discount on entry, or a beverage coupon.

They might even pull something specifically interesting for Buell riders out of the storage lockers, and put it on display.
The Buell display there was a rather nice one when I went there last year, it was just under construction and not real accessible.

Just a suggestion...

Nah, The museum would let us in the back door, have us play around for awhile and maybe build a few bikes, then abruptly kick us out the front door without pay.

Ya, still bitter.

I don't have the bitter taste at all because I didn't even test ride a Buell until summer of 2009, when I realized an ST4 or RS1150 were going to be WAAY out of my price range.
In addition to being outstanding but quirky bikes, ( something I actually value), at the risk of sounding opportunistic, the deflated used prices from the shutdown actually helped make up my mind to buy one. I looked all winter long, but didn't bring one home until spring of 2010.
Nine years on I still see me wearing it out, rebuilding it, and wearing it out again. I can't see me ever parting with it.

I like the idea of seeing some local sites: HD Museum - decent Buell display & OK food
Uke's - nice Buell museum
Mukwonago - early Buell locale & listed as location of VanguardSpark.
Maybe Iron Horse hotel? - schedule a Buell evening or just show up.
Rides Rides Rides- Mike K took us about on a spirited EBR history ride that was cool. Maybe he can be convinced again.

T Shirt idea - Dead Pegasus 10th Anniversary? Too dark? Maybe the quote by KW in a circle around a HD suite & a bloody Pegasus? "The business loses money for us year in and year out" Keith Wandell

Thought about HC this year, then Crusty wanted a get-together at the Springfield Mile. I liked that idea...
Got a good crew growing, R3S1 Section NN is mine.

Memorial Day weekend(May 26).
A weekend at the races!

I'm curious to know if any others might be interested in a ride to the HD museum on Friday. If enough interest is there, I would volunteer to ask the management if they were interested in an active participation beyond taking our money to walk through their halls. If there isn't any enthusiasm here, I'll forget the whole idea and just hang around with whichever Buell riders are still about.
I've seen the museum its worth the admission, but probably not twice in a year.

I loved the H-D museum and this sounds like a good idea. I wish I could involve myself in it but my twins have me on lockdown.
I may as well have a GPS anklet.

With the timing, it looks like I'll ride up to East Troy after the Mile.
See some more old friends.
There may be a few of us... hope my tires hold up.

I'm a Full Life member of HOG.
Paid the $300 in 1987, every year I get a patch, a pin and a new road atlas with state m/c laws.
I consider it one of my better decisions in life. Free admission to the museum is another perk.

Can't wait to see everybody!

I like the idea Mnscrounger. The HD Museum has many bikes stored in warehouse racks. It'd be cool if they could be persuaded to let the Buell Nation see some of these gems.

Here's a link to the SpaceSaver storage system manufacturer that has photos of some Buells. I understand there may be some significant Buells there.

This was the last place I would have guess that spacesaver would have pop up.I worked there almost 25 years and had a hand in coating the storage system for HD.

Just throwing this out there, as it's one thing that I've always wanted to do...

Check out the "Behind-the-Scenes Tour"

Trouble is, would it be possible to round up 15 (or more...) willing and able participants, have them coordinated, and have the $$$ rounded up ahead of time.

As an FYI, Conejito's Place - for some excellent authentic Mexican - is right over the bridge from the museum, pretty much across the street from the Iron Hose Hotel.

I think I've said too much...

For some reason, or another, I have always thought of Brankin as having leanings toward Goth. Until now I had never felt a demonic influence about him though. Tis not a spoon, whisk, or simple stand mixer, but an industrial size blender unleashed in an apocalyptic manner. How do we handle fallout? There is a time honored method that requires invoking. Brankin, What a wonderful thought, a most interesting option. You my fine friend and most capable engineer. I would thoroughly appreciate all the research and time I believe you will put forth to make this option a priority and reality. Thank you for volunteering.

Not sure what to really make of all that mumbo-jumbo above. I certainly didn't see any bus whizzing my way... Either I'm a saint or I ain't, I guess... ; )

However, THE biggest part of making it a reality is the group requirement of 15 (OR MORE!) people - or participants, or VOLUNTEERS... I've been relatively decent with cardboard cutout faces duplicating people missing from Homecoming, but I'm not so sure I could manage full size cardboard standees of missing Buellers to slip (yet another...) fast one over on the MoCo.

So...
- Who will commit to participating?
- What day is the preferred day, or are there days that shouldn't be considered?

Brankin, as the one who initially floated the balloon, I would commit. I am also happy to solicit the museum in advance to see if they would do anything "special" for us as a group, but if you or any other Badweb member have contacts or skills in manipulating the motor company to provide unpublished perks, I would happily defer to your advantage.

I haven't seen any breakfast or G-Night offerings coming down the pipe yet. Would it have to be Thur. or Fri. To avoid racing conflicts on the weekend?

I would agree Friday is the best day, as Thursday is usually gathering at the EBR office/s (and personally I need to be in Eau Claire on Saturday afternoon for a family event.)

Personally, I always plan to be at Road America on Friday. Since it sounds like some guys will be at Springfield the weekend before, perhaps a mid-week day would bridge things?

So...

I talked to someone tonight who might be able to help out with some important aspects of the behind the scenes tour, but I have some more legwork that I need to do before we can nail this on Ourdee's official Homecoming schedule of events.
AHEM... ; )

But...we really need to figure out what day we will want to visit. So far most people say Friday, but Dennis is kind of saying Friday won't work for him. So is it majority rule, or would a mid-week visit work for all?

Please help me so I can help you!

Brankin, count me in as long as it's after Tuesday.
Sounds like a low-budget hoot of a time.

I expect a small caravan from Springfield to East Troy starting Monday morning after The Mile.

Should be a memorable 2 weeks.
