I noticed. But I doubt Erik bothers to check web sites to see if someone wished him a happy birthday. And he probably wouldn't care whether I wished him happiness. He doesn't, though I've met him several times and spoken on the phone with him once, know me from Adam. So I passed on writing a useless post. Not that this one is any better.
That said, and though we've never met, and we've never spoken on the phone, happy birthday Matt! I hope it's not meaningless for you.
Didn't know it WAS your birthday, Matt. Hope it's a happy one. Erik's birthday pops up every year on Facebook, though (and I would've thought if ANYBODY kept track of his birthday, it would be the people here).
As I recall Erik is a member of this forum, though his contact information is kept private by the Admins. Likely he does pop in from time to time to read whats going on.
Wow- I remember you mentioning that. Given that you've been watching your ticker closely, with recent surgery, may I ask what exactly happened? DANG but that's just horrible- condolences even now, buddy.
My brother didn't ever really take good care of himself. His diabetes was constantly out of control, quite a few times he ended himself up in a coma and woke up in a hospital bed... one time in handcuffs with guards by the door.
Over the years he went blind, suffered from kidney failure, and lost a few toes.
He was walking in Yosemite Valley with his live-in caretaker when he clutched his chest and collapsed. They say he was probably dead before he hit the ground.
Me, not diabetic, kidneys good (other than that one stone I had last year) and I work out quite a bit.
Oh Boy! I'm a Cyborg! I have a few square feet of plastic mesh in my abdomen (hernia repair), two plastic lenses in my eyes (cataract replacement) and a Carbon & Stainless Aortic Valve in my heart. They removed the titanium plate and screws from my ankle, but I have them in a little plastic jar just in case I should need them again. I guess I've got a good start on becoming a short, round General Grievous!
Hell; my heart's in the best shape is ever been in during my adult life. Because of the plastic mesh, I can't get another hernia. And I was almost completely blind at night before my cataract replacement. I'm not complaining; I'm much better off than I was.
My first contact with the VA was due to cataracts. Got so bad I couldn't read a street sign from further than 5 feet.
My vision before the cataracts was 20-80 right and 20-110 left. After the surgery I am 20-30 right and 20-40 left. For the first time in my life(started wearing glasses at 8yrs) I can function without glasses.
Back to the subject at hand. You realize that if Erik were never born, there never would've been a Buell Motorcycle Company and this crazy, eclectic group of ours would've probably NEVER gotten together?
