If you're going slow enough on a long-raked bike, you don't have to lock it up. It'll simply fold to full lock, and drop. And looking in that photo, she's got the front brake lever under her index finger, and has it SMASHED against her other fingers. Don't mistake the mirror stem and mirror, for the brake lever. All you can see of the lever is the ball on the end, just to the left of her second knuckle. | ||

That's my every adult winter in a nutshell. I now skip the happy part and go directly to cursing Al Gore, who promised me my children would never know the joys of making a snow man. In severe storms I huddle next to a propane space heater and dream of moving to Death Valley or Egypt, anywhere no one sells snow shovels. By spring I'm filled with joy when I can take the studded snow tires off. Then weeks later when I can get the Cyclone out of the shed as the mud dries from the spring rains and record snow melt..... just to replace the dead battery I forgot to plug in in fall. Ah! Seasons!
