University’s Ban of ‘Sausage Fest’ Panels Is Sexist, Male Professors Say

Shouldn't they be required to include a member from all 56 sexes? It doesn't seem very inclusive to only acknowledge two sexes...

Um.... 4145.

That's right, the love that can't pronounce it's name.

This reminds me of 19th century science. Put everything into boxes and categories based on number of lobes in a leaf or some theory of social structure.

Sometimes it makes sense but ends up all wrong. As a political ploy, division makes sense to steal choice.

Plus with the divide between people there is no end to the rage you can exploit. Gay marriage, ok. Not enough! We require active cheers for our subsection. Ok, yeah, enjoy your sex. Not good enough. What about Trans people? Ok, take hormones and grow breasts. Not good enough! What about born female transitioning to male but sleeps with men? Ok, do what you want, enjoy. Not good enough! What about female teachers seducing 14 year old boys? Ok, fine. Where the heckler were you when I was 14? Seduction? Invitation would be plenty. Not good enough! Men who want to screw 5 year old. ... Ok, no. You just kicked in my "we may have to dig a bigger mass grave" reflex.

There can be no end to this that's results in good.

I draw the line near the Wicca. ( not the fakes that claim to curse Trump, three fold return. ) Do as you will and it harm no other. Past that I go medieval.

Reminds me of the joke where two French guys were talking. The first one says, "There are 100 ways to make love!" The second says, "Well, there's the regular way.." and the first cuts in and says, "Ah, 101!"

I wonder... If we were to ban Muslims from the US, because of their part in the slave trade, what would the snow flakes say about that?

I have to wonder about this. If cotton plants were a common center piece, I would think, "quit with the idiocy, it's just a center piece". But they're not. At least, I've never seen one. Having an unusual center piece is no big deal, but you have to be pretty freaking tone deaf to decide that your unusual center pieces are going to be cotton for a room full of black people. Almost as if you were sending a message. Now, whether that was their intent, I'll don't know. Poor decision making, or malicious?

"A commodity which was gained at the expense of African-American slaves.”

So they were antique center pieces? It's amazing that those cotton plants cuttings survived all this time.

Oh wait, they weren't old, they were new. Harvested mechanically, I'm sure. Or by non-slave migrant workers. (which is close to slave labor...but that's another argument.)

Nothing like an exaggeration or a lie to undercut your argument. Shame...they didn't need to lie.

I missed where it was a center piece for anything. All I knew about was that this was being sold by Hobby Lobby as a decoration. Did I miss something?

As far as 'black food' goes, I disagree. Southern, yes. I like all those things. And fried chicken and watermelon. You don't have to be black to enjoy good food.

Yeah I never understood the watermelon+KFC thing.
I like both very much.
Is there a place in this country where only black people go for those things?

People these days all seem to be playing a game of "Find the angle that makes this offend me"

Balkanizing. Dividing into tribal hatred groups.

My vision of our land is precisely the opposite. Our cultures add their distinctiveness to our own. Our cultures will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.

What makes America great is the melting pot and while that's a metallurgy analogy, it segues to food nicely.

Tacos & grits & pizza $ bibimbap & ......... offended by greens? Embrace your culture fool!

Personally I'd prefer bibimbap & mimbap to Irish or Norse cuisine, but I'd appreciate the effort. Invite me to taco night too please.

Perhaps instead of the courtesy of feeding familiar food to make your guests at ease you should introduce your own personal native fare?

What is the native foods of political academics? Steak? Mac & Cheese with hot pot hot dogs? That's student fare. Raman & pizza rolls?

Hate gives power to evil.

It seems the best message yet from the Last Pope. Leaders must understand there is a power above them.
It must be my distrust of his faith that has me think he wants us to pray to our masters not for them.

I certainly could be wrong about the guy. Wouldn't that be great?

Then I could be excommunicated for doubting his divinity instead of climate denial. Guilty, btw.

I'm fine with that. Feel free not to believe in mine. Mock it if you want, I'll either laugh or mock you back. I certainly won't call for you to be burned at the stake for denying mine is perfect and cannot be questioned.

The Pope's, OTOH is such a religion. ( and I'm not talking about The Catholic Church, feel free to make fun of them too, their time for burning people is pretty much over... most places )

What? Never been dragged into Pier one? ( holy toledo what crap! )

I haven't been invited to the University President's house either. But he's obviously been dragged to trendy decor hell, or at least his credit card was.

The 2 things I'm willing to bet money on, is that the choice of food was well intentioned and the centerpiece was probably a blind choice.

And the Snowflakes are deliberate a--holes.

Heck despite the fact that several of my friends are lesbians, and a few are trans, I still don't always get the chosen pronouns correct. They either figure I'm an uncouth hick, or a forgetful fool. Either is at least partially correct. The ones that stay friends just know that I don't give a darn what the labels are and treat everyone the same, no matter the sex, skin, eye, or hair color. ( although many know of my weakness for smart, deadly, female, redheads... That's MY culture. )

Not that I don't like Blondes or Brunettes. I'm not that prejudiced. ; )

Btw, the fellows wearing crowns in the first photo all have won their region's ( Kingdoms's )Crown Tournaments, usually a double elimination full contact rattan Tourney. They vary in size by membership and geography. For example, Australia & New Zealand are one Kingdom, while Socal is another.

The Combat of the Thirty is a re-enactment of a famous battle... of unusual type.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combat_of_the_Thirty

As with the real battle, sunshades are erected, refreshments prepared, and it is fought as an organized melee. Wounded and captured fighters are ransomed back, ( home brewed beverages of the finest quality and hand made gifts are traditional in the SCA re-enactment ) and three full passes are made. ( think heavily armed gang fights, with Chivalry! ) Being at a SCA event, it is fought with Rattan weapones instead of Steel, so there's someone left to go drinking with, and it's the only "battle" at Pennsic with a dress code. There are other invitation only tournaments, each a great honor to be invited to participate in, but the Combat of the 30 requires period & region correct armor (and a very narrow time range, no Samurai or 15th century Jousting gear ) and is renowned for it's Chivalry, and brutality. ( Full contact with 6 foot maces, rubber head or no, is hard core )

My best gear qualifies, except I don't have the right face shield. I do work as ref there most years.
