The UN's goal in Korea was to kick the north out of the south. That goal was achieved. The UN swept through the north, nearly to the Chinese border. The Chinese, fearing that the UN troops would keep going, ran across the border and engaged. Also, no one turned tail and ran. We're still there. You've ceased to amaze me with your ignorance. It used to catch me off guard, but you've taught me to be prepared for anything. Interestingly, Korea is seen as a UN action, though the soldiers were overwhelmingly American. In the Iraq war, the percentage was lower, but seen, in the press anyway, as the US 'going it alone'. Pretty insulting to the other countries that lost people there. | ||

My Dad was one of the guys who walked, not ran, from near the Chinese border to Hungnam. U.S. Naval medical Corpsman ( pronounced Core-man, just in case you are as ignorant as Barack Obama ) assigned to the Marines. ( actually taken from a DDE off the coast and sent TDY to Seoul, then points north ) He doesn't talk about it, aside from an occasional comment on not liking to hike in the cold, and how he carried a Browning Shotgun purchased in the PX in Seoul, since the N. Koreans never signed and certainly never obeyed the Laws of War & the Geneva Convention. | ||
