Had to stay home. Gravitational pull too strong over the past few days. With the plumbing getting a work out I'd be less than no fun anyways. Love to have been at Jim's BBQ hammering down some great stuff, but that could not happen, and unfortunately, does not really even sound good to me right now.(the most accurate sign of not feeling well!) Crusty and Froggy it was sure great seeing ya'll again! Totally enjoyed your company. | ||

Got back home about 2.5ish hours ago, after a GREAT ride home up 129... I'm whooped. So glad to see you nutjobs, although we sure missed Glitch and Mrs. Glitch, Vern, and a few others. I'll see about posting up more about this epic cool weekend tomorrow, with my coffee. Hope everyone else made it home as nicely as I did! | ||

Wow... what a change today brings, compared to the last two. Torrential rains, some boomers, setting in for a day and a half apparently. I had been tempted to stay another night at TWoS, very glad I came on home! Not having Glitch, Ann, Vern, Graham, and IIRC Brankin was a bummer, but I got the dose of good fun, food, whiskey, and mojo that I was looking for. Not to mention the ride down and back... found a beautiful new road just south of Tellico Plains, it will be my connector to Reliance Road from now on. Passing through Reliance TN and over the Hiwassee river this trip, it was more beautiful than ever... I need to make a point to spend some serious time there, maybe find a primo campsite for a few days. Saturday afternoon and evening was predictably chock full of shits and giggles... Matthew and I have begun trying to top one another with a new good bourbon when we get together. Last time I won, this time he won! (1792 for him, Belle Meade 9 year for me last time)... And, what Crusty said. He and I both rode down to leave behind a lot of trouble, to find good cheer and good company, we found it in spades. Just hanging out with friends and strangers, appreciating all the fine machinery coming and going, TWoS truly is a magical place. A load of thanks also go to Mary, her hubby and kids and crew, and to Bill, the proprietor of TWoS. Every time I've been there since he acquired it, he's been there either working on something or hanging out with everyone. He's obviously put a TON of money, work, thought, and sweat equity into this legendary place- I make a point to always shake his hand and thank him for what he's done. I remember the time when we all wondered what would happen to TWO after GT and Britt were kicked off the property and the land/lodge cleared of its former "soul"... Bill has clearly found the vision and motivation to take TWoS into the future. What a guy. So, now I'm home with most of the hotdogs I bought, plus the rest of the Benton's goodies... and a surprise! Once I got done sleeping in, way past breakfast, I went down and had a club sandwich (HUGE) with some OJ. Then, started packing... last thing to go was all the stuff I had in the fridge and freezer. Other than Matthew and myself, there were some guys who'd rented room #1- all were very cool, only got the name of one, Kenny. He'd mentioned that they'd been riding all day, got to stop at Jim's for some BBQ, and that he was taking some home for his wife when he left Sunday. Given that I was last out, about 2ish, and everyone else had cleared out... there were still 2 Styrofoam boxes left in the fridge. Guess what was in them...  Now, my momma raised me not to take what's not mine, but it seemed quite obvious that Kenny had forgotten about a rack of ribs and some pulled pork! Unless he and his buddies had packed everything else, went riding, and had planned to come back JUST for the 'cue... I knew that Mary's girls would throw it all out. NO WAY, JOSE. I still feel guilty taking those ribs, but what the hey. If I ever see Kenny again, I'll find out and do right by him if need be.  And Greg, thank you for that last Trouble Brewing Pale Ale (GREAT brewery name, BTW), and for whittling those dog sticks. Ending the day, I arrived home to find that my honey and her brother (mostly him) had mulched, bordered, and made awesome the entire side of the house to surprise me, plus mulched several large poker plants and a couple of crucial trees. They had been expecting a hotdog dinner, which would have been just fine, BUT- you just can't beat a Jim's pork rib dinner, with pasta salad and dirty rice. Ate ourselves sleepy, tried to watch some boobtube, bailed to bed early, slept very well. For those we missed, and we sure missed you, DANG I hope you can join us all next time! That might have been Charlie's leftover BBQ, I know he took some extras from Jim's (some ribs and his son's pulled pork sandwich), he put in his bike, he possibly transferred them to the fridge and forgot. At least they didn't get thrown out. | ||

Two Wheels is one of those places that you don't find just anywhere... There are no shortage of watering holes, roadside saloons, cheap motels, hotels, campgrounds and hostels scattered across the landscape. Rarely do you find such a sublime combination of all the above, rooted in the heart of North Georgia's best roads that link to some of the best that Tennessee and North Carolina have to offer as well. Those who haven't been there should put it on the bucket list. Good times were had by all. While managing to single handedly keep the local sasquatch population at bay, we enjoyed good company and even better riding. Top that off with great food and strong drink. We lamented the passing of friends, the absence of those who were prevented from coming, and celebrated the camraderie of friends made here on BadWeB. Gentlemen, it's been real. | ||

We had a grand time meeting up with y'all Friday evening at Two. Crusty, Tootal, Froggy----it was a pleasure. We did a lot of riding on Saturday and had another great GPS adventure. I will post a picture when I get it sized correctly. Till we meet again......Jerry and Carol Maybe the Springfield races? | ||

Well I made it home yesterday. I had a great ride from Ellijay to Nashville. I stopped for lunch in Chattanooga and the Terminal brewery again. The Philosopher burger was made with lamb and was really good! I left there and headed North up 27 to 111. This was a great highway. No traffic, nice scenery and very few gas stations! I had to fill up with 87 octane but it was non ethenol. The bike ran fine and got 51 mpg! The next day I left Nashville and made it just West of Mt. Vernon Illinois when the sky got dark. I stopped and put my riding pants on and ten minutes later I was glad I did! So it was a 45 minute ride in the rain but I didn't really mind. It cleaned all the bugs off the bike and my face shield! It was really great to see everybody and hope those that couldn't make it will be able to next time. Ride safe my friends! | ||

So my "oh great" moment happened Sunday afternoon when I suddenly felt better, and good enough to go to Suches! Damn the timing! So I manned the shop to finally get the previous week's work done Wednesday morning. Now I am only another week behind! I really appreciated Crusty and Froggy stopping by to twist my arm and adjust my attitude. You guys had to know I was not feeling well when I opted for chicken and rice vs a steak dinner! Glad for the great turn out and to hear ya'll had the good time we all predicted. The next best thing when you cannot be there is to know you are missed, thank you. Me and my Uly will be up for the next one! | ||
