Today marked the first time my heart was broken by the sale of a bike. My 1125R, my amazing steed, sold today. For the first time in 14 years, I am without a sport bike. This was instantly realized as a mistake.

With the cash I have been saving for a "rainy day", I have many great options before me. There are a few BMW R1150GS's floating around. I saw a few triumphs, an Aprilia Tuono v4, an MZ Baghira, and even 2 MV Agustas in my range!

During my search, quite suddenly- there she was. All dressed in white, sexy, smart, staring straight into my soul. All at a marked down price that I could afford. She is beautiful.

I tried to write her off. I thought of having that money for other projects, for another new bike. But no matter how hard I tried, no bike of practical or intriguing nature could push this vision out of my head. I called the insurance company. My insurance would only jump 40 bucks a month adding her into my life.... Well damn. I guess I am at a point of seeking validation for what may be a futile attempt to put my money where my mouth is. So how about it?

I have found an SX. Should I buy it, and go out of my way to frequent every Motorsport venue and meet in central Florida? Would trying to build brand hype, exposure through immersion and presence, for this company I love the most- be a task well received? I want to support Erik any way I can.

Please tell me I am an idiot, and to not follow my heart... And to not waste my time. I could do responsible stuff with that money. Like wipe away the tears of regret for letting the fun die in my life..... Well some of it anyways.

I also could have done "responsible stuff with that money." I also might never have had an EBR.

Those white one's are my favorite. I had to buy a car else I'd be looking at getting one too, now that EBR has been acquired by a US company/Buell enthusiast.

You know we probably aren't going to point you in the other direction. Read the EBR section to decide if having an introduction year bike is acceptable, then go for it.

Hmmm... you sure?

This one's for sale at a good price.

Wait a few days until EBR's back in operation (see Bruce's post in the "EBR in the News" forum). That way maybe you can get a warranty.

Well, here she is.

Quiet, mean, and light.

I wish she had a temp sensor readout.

The trunk tumbler is FUBAR. The key gets stuck.

The motor bucked and pinged, until I put 40 miles of fresh gas and (kinda) steady riding on her. Now I can use 1st and 2nd down to 2500 rpm's.

I just crossed 800 miles getting it home. I like sitting upright, and the only two things on my mind are a wrist saver of some sorts, and to delete the quiet chamber.

To sum it up:
I love it!

Congrats on the purchase!

As for building up hype for the brand...eh, whats the point, its not even a company at current. And if it does come back as "EBR" then I'd still wait to see what they put out

Malott442 - When I got mine last week the trunk tumbler was broken too. I have no idea what to do about it and the dealer will not do anything to help out. So, right now I just don't have access to that until I can get a locksmith to try and open it without damaging it worse. along with making a new key for me since the first one was broke upon deliver of the bike, assume it was broken due to dealer trying to open the trunk.

I only have 16 total miles on the bike (9 of my own) and haven't noticed any of the bucking and pinging.

You made the right choice.
We've had bikes that were appliance-like (but plenty of fun), but a Buell/EBR in the garage is like nothing else.
Passion cannot be qualified or quantified in any rational sense.
Enjoy your new ride.

The bucking and pinging was from the bike being moved in and out of the dealer for 2 weeks. Those repeated cycles allow quite a bit of fouling material to build up on the electrode assemblies. As soon as the plugs got some good heat on them, the deposits burned off. It rides really smooth now.

My trunk tumbler has a pin or two that is stuck extended and retracted. I'm going to soak it in penetrating oil, fashion a few picks at the right angle l, and try to work her out.
I guess I need to check all of the fasteners for tightness too. I've heard of exhaust bolts falling out, among other problems.

My first purchases will be axle sliders, exhaust. I would like a different seat as well, as the seat and my seated angle pushes my "vitals" into the tank.

If anyone needs some xb/1125 goodies, they will be on the classifieds soon.

Just say no to penetrating oil. Powdered graphite like a good lock smith would use. Use a lock pick to work the pins in and out.

I'll have to spray and clean her out. I got the 2nd tumbler pin free, but the key is still not happy with trying to go in.

Any tips?

Also, where do I buy dry slide at?

Home Depot has graphite in a tube.
Even has a picture of a key on it...lol.
Of course I can never find mine when I need it so I keep buying it.

Congrats and it was painful for me not to buy your 1125r since I am north of Orlando but too many life events at the moment.

I think we must all have some shop supply like that. Personally, I have about 15 tubs of "plumber's putty".

I have a can of dry Teflon spray that makes graphite cry.
Stays longer/slipperier.

Don't have the brand handy, do a search for "dry teflon spray lube".

How much louder do you want it and how much weight do you want to drop from it?

This is about 17.7 lbs lighter than stock.

Looks like this on the bike, although the serial tag is in a different location now.

Currently, the PC-V works with it, a race ecm tuned for it is also forthcoming. I have an early build of the tune on mine right now and it's working well enough to ride with. Low end fueling is vastly improved over stock.

Malott442 - what did you end up using to get the truck unlocked? My key won't even go all the way into the cylinder. I might have to try to pickup a small set of scribs to try and fit them in and work the pins.

I also have some Dupont Teflon spray that I might try using as I already tried the graphite and it didn't change it.

@germblast-I'm still locked out. I will continue to prod around with it. As long as I don't get pulled over, I'll be fine for now.

@skntpig- I may have to find a shop to prep it for a track day. Sounds pretty lame, but I am suddenly and overwhelmingly busy. A track day would be friggin awesome. How pissed do they get when you wheelie out of corners, or through the straights? I have a few thousand miles of practice, balance them nicely. Yes, I'm asking seriously .

@robertl- I, in reality, should have put the money back for a couple of reasons.... but when it showed up for the price it did- I told my wife this was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I picked the sx up for 8400, before tax tag title.

@dadams- I really like that pipe, and the price. I'm not sure if it will help me drive responsibly, as I would love hearing that pipe sound off!!!

@zac. I think my cable lube is a dry teflon? Not sure.

Thats is a killer deal...I thought I got a good deal for 9700 on a red one, but DAMN.

In regards to the lock tumbler, the powder graphite didn't work, so today I took out my spray teflon. Sprayed till it was overflowing and let it sit and dry out. after that the key slid in like butter and operated so smooth.

Once I got it open I completely disassembled the entire tail section (surprisingly easy to take off) to get at the tumbler again. Covered the back and filled it up again and again. Operated the key a few more times and them started re-aasymbly. At each part that could effect the lock i would put it together and test the lock again.

Its sitting right now and am going to go out in another hour and test it.

I do have another question about something in the trunk area, are they helmet hooks each side (like the 08 1125 has)?

I hope this helps you out and your able to get your functional.

On second thought, you should probably skip that exhaust. You sound like you're enough of a hooligan as it is, this thing won't help you any at all...

It's lightweight(ish), loud(very) and causes irresponsibilty. Nope, you should walk (ok, RUN) the other way.

D_adams. How much louder than stock is taking the Helmholtz chamber?

That looks like a middle ground option.

I like and don't like the dumbed down 1st gear, and the bike trying to keep me from snatching the front wheel.

I do, however, think I need to impose a few tuning items to deal with the occasional spark knock i detect at low rpms, low throttle imput......

It's loud, ie; race exhaust loud. I haven't measured it for DB, but I wear ear plugs all the time, so it's not much of a bother to me. Stock exhaust or this one, I'm wearing ear plugs. It's definitely louder than just taking off the secondary muffler.

Not sure if this will work here or not. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1010607013243 2809
