"And a REAL shop manual like you'd buy when HarLee was involved would be a big plus" What was the manual like for the 1190s? |

In all honesty, I won't be paying anything for a bit. My next purchase is already lined up and it's going to be a second Triumph. Are the Triumphs perfect? No. There will be another motorcycle purchased after that one. Will it be a Buell? I don't know and I've probably put over 200,000 miles on them by now. I use motorcycles like most people use a car so I need to see how the reliability shapes up. My 3 tube frame Buells have their little share of problems, the Useless has been fighting me for the past 70,000 miles and I skipped the last water cooled HD-era Buells after seeing the batteries get sucked dead overnight when they first came out. Yes, I know that they fixed that but it just made a really bad first impression. They made a real big deal out of the JD Powers reliability bit with the XB; do the same with the new ones but set the bar higher as they're not stuck with HarLee any longer. This is their chance to get it right. |

My 1125R (08) NEVER had an issue of dead battery after a night...or a week...or a month. (etc, though it turns out a YEAR does kill a battery ha) |

You must have purchased one of the later ones after they corrected the problem. It was the ECM running diagnostics like crazy, not the mechanics leaving the parking light on like we initially thought. I was working the service desk at Lancaster H-D at the time, the delivery wasn't all that much fun with the sales department flipping out on me. Did we have to go to the guy's house and pick up his dead bike the following week? Oh, yeah. Was he happy? Hell, no... That's ancient history. My point is there's a new owner, he'll kick people in the head when things go wrong (literally), and this is Erik's Last Hurrah as he's no spring chicken and neither are most of us. This is the time to get it right. (Message edited by SteveFord on August 08, 2015) |

Bruce (he says don't call him Mr. Belfer) made a few more posts to ebrforum.com today:
quote:Dear Faithful, I'm obviously up to my ass in alligators over here, and working on a Saturday, so I can't hang out online. But I've heard/read/been told there are questions in various forums, etc., and pics of some of my collection of bikes that have people confused. So: I have/still own: 1978 Puch Maxi 1976 Motobecane V50 1970 Honda CL350 1971 Honda CL350 Sportsman Racer 1971 Triumph Bonneville 1971 Norton 750 Commando 1994 Kawasaki ZX11 1965 Vespa 1998 Harley Davidson Road King 2002 Yamaha R1 2006 Ducati SC1000 Basically, if it has two wheels and an engine, I dig it. As to other speculation, "First rule of Fight Club is?" Oh, and "Mr. Belfer" was my dad. Bruce is my name.
and
quote:Come to think of it, technically, I now own about 350 EBRs...
How can you not like this guy? |

"You must have purchased one of the later ones after they corrected the problem." Third in NC. It was pretty early (Jan of 08) Belfers garage is pretty nice looking (from the list, not that Ive seen HIS garage). Fingers crossed for good things in the future. Not going to hold my breath, but Im hoping for positive things. |

Hey, if he were to sell those 350 EBR motorcycles for just ~$6429 each, he'd recover his investment!

Whats worse? Vespas or Miatas? At least Vespas have two wheels and a whole subculture of riders. Vespa have been featured in popular culture as an icon of design and mobility. I have yet to see any film feature a Miata as an icon to aspire to unless you count that MacGruber movie. I bet Mr. Belfer is the kind of guy who wouldn't be caught dead in a Miata,

I have seen a Miata with a 5.0 Ford V8 engine, supercharged, with a roll cage, running at the track. Darn thing was really impressive! I got no problems with a Miata. Now, a Pontiac Sunfire? Not okay... |

Hello, Faithful. Word is this is the oldest, baddest, most hardcore Buell/EBR forum on the web. My kinda joint... You might have heard I'm pretty busy these days, but I figured I'd drop by, say hi, and pay my respects. Respect goes a long way with me. I can't spend much time online, as you can imagine, but I will follow along as time permits. There is a huge amount of good information here, and I will do my best to put it to good use. Constructive opinions are always appreciated, and I'm notoriously hard to offend, so straight up, no ice, please. Thanks! Bruce |

Hello Bruce. We, the oldest and the baddest faithful guys sure are glad to see you here on the Badweb. I don't post much anymore but I do check the forum regularly. This place is full of great guys with lots knowledge and an eagerness to help each other in ways that are not often seen these days. You have a long row to hoe but you already know that and jumped in anyway so that says a lot to me. Good luck with everything. I think the future of EBR/Buell or whatever the name may be is in good hands. I can't wait to see the outcome....Take Care, Ben |

Hello, My name is Mike and I am new to the forum. I have been lurking on this forum for about a year and a half. I am not a current Buell/EBR owner, but, ever since my brother-in-law let me borrow his '06 Ulysses for a weekend I have been hooked. With a new house and 3 boys under the age of 6, money and time for riding are not abundant. I am still waiting for the stars to align and I can make the purchase of a new-to-me Ulysses. The reason I decided to Join the forum today is after reading recent posts by Mr. Bruce Belfer on this forum and on the EBR facebook page, I can hardly contain my excitement! Mr. Belfer I want to personally thank you for keeping the dream of an American sport bike alive! It is my hope that the third time is the charm and Erik Buell has finally found a partner/owner that is the right match for him. I wish Mr. Belfer and Mr. Buell the best of luck. I can't wait to see what the future brings!!! |
