Very interesting stuff in the link Roberl posted above:
quote:Belfer said he wants to bring back the manufacturing and those employees who want to return, including keeping Erik Buell as president. Belfer will become CEO.
quote:The details of getting the company back up and running must still be worked out, Belfer said. It will include reopening contact with company suppliers, customers and dealers. That process will begin next week, he said, and production of motorcycles would follow shortly after.
quote:Belfer said he contacted Erik Buell this spring after hearing of the receivership case and opened discussions of the business. He determined that, without the consulting work the company was doing for Hero MotoCorp, the motorcycle company was a viable business. “In my opinion, what was a viable manufacturing operation had become distracted by a single-customer consulting operation,” Belfer said.

Funny Court should mention Moxy because that bike right there has Moxy! You where parked right next to me(with your Uly)at the Last Ride RD-remember.I left my bike out in the rain all night and water got into my front brake switch so my brake lights where on the whole time during the Last Ride. During the factory tour I told someone of my issue and a new switch was in my hand.We installed it and S3Ters and I rode 400 miles home. |

"The United States has taken its manufacturing capacity for granted for a generation now and it suffers as a result,” Belfer said. “If people like me don’t do things like I did, it will continue to suffer.” From the Milwaukee biz journal article. What a great statement. |

I seem to remember a certain Erik Buell making a statement or two very similar to this during the EBR years. It seems these minds are aligned quite well for another go at it. |

I think this is the best scenario for Erik. And maybe a bit of a miraculous scenario considering all that has transpired and could have transpired. The last two "partners" have gotten in his way, stolen from him in various ways and ultimately tried to kill his work for the sake of their own work. Now Erik gets to be taken seriously without the presence of a ghost agenda. You heard the man, "Erik is the icon". This title means that Erik gets respect, breathing room and attentiveness to his concerns and vision. Bruce says of himself, "I am an engineer, a mechanic, and a businessman. And I'm here to watch their backs as we go forward." The first two titles tell me he will not be a stranger nor disconnected doubter to the operation. He is also a businessman. He is successful and will move forward intelligently and tactically. Andy Warhol said, "the most interesting kind of art is business". Bruce is obviously an artist in this regard. The last title tells me he is something Erik has never had; an ally and protector. Love that statement, "I'm here to watch their backs". Right on, Bruce! That will be done by Bruce the business man. But he is a business man with grit as has already been said. Gotta say, I am really blown away by how all this ended up. But it's what Erik needed. I don't expect things to take off like a rocket. We should be patient. I think the next phase could be re-planning to fit into the new future with even more lessons learned from the past. Maybe replanning to the foundational bone and then rolled out again. Don't know. I would love to see street bikes. Naked, trackers, etc. Let's go back to where we came from then take it from there. If my tuber S2 still get's conversations from strangers, and it does....then there is still market share to lap up. America is not done with old bones rude Buell. There is still so much room to exploit the original rawness of that vision. Look at the new breed to scramblers and trackers and cafe's! Anyway... (Message edited by jon on August 07, 2015) |

These are the kind of guys I long to work for. I'm so tired of putting up with corporate bureaucracy and red tape bullshit, seems as if this is the norm in America these days. I like what I'm hearing from this guy and believe he has what it takes to make things happen and I'm not referring just to what's in his back pocket. Now put those guys back to work and build the bike that pulls at my heart strings! |

"Police said Belfer was working security at a music festival in June when he allegedly kicked a 21-year-old man in the face and struck him with a blunt object, the Daily Freeman newspaper in New Jersey reported. Belfer had no comment about the incident. But he said he's eager to start making motorcycles. " Well... Sometimes people deserve to get their asses kicked... sometimes even their faces... Carry On. |

It's subtle, but it sure seems like most people with an interest in this, and not just on Badweb, are FAR more enthusiastic about Mr. Belfer than they ever were about Hero. Something about this deal just feels absolutely right. Maybe EBR got a little too far from their true calling. Mr. Belfer seems like just the guy to put the train on the right track and keep it there. |

"Well... Sometimes people deserve to get their asses kicked" Sometimes punks need to get their asses handed to them from grown-ups.. I see a bright and successful future for a fella that can do that (with no repercussions ) in the business world. I'd like to see the EBR swag and parts train back on the tracks soon.. (free advertising and farkles) they are a big part going forward to generate global interest in our beloved brand.. |

Who took my couch and popcorn? Dave, That was a sad day. I want to see what HC2016 brings. When I lost the rear wheel bearings in the uly during HC, Erik had a set of bearings taken to Hal's in the passenger seat of a car just in case Hal's didn't get bearings in in time. He even offered the rear wheel off of his Uly. That is the backing I was introduced to. I miss the Uly but not the tippy toe dance we did. I can flat foot the Scg. Just short on luggage. I hope the ECMs come back up for sale with the program/CDs on the EBR website. |

Well... Sometimes people deserve to get their asses kicked... sometimes even their faces... Perhaps Mr. Belfer did no wrong in this incident. I will lean toward that, as it is the American way to be innocent until proven guilty. In any case, it is nice to know that the new CEO is not afraid to (at least allegedly) "kick azz and take names". |

Hey, most everyone has been to a concert. There are always unruly people. Sometimes, a person can get really belligerent and attack the opposition (most known with wild turkey drinkers in my area). He may have been defending himself... |

At the end of the day, does it really matter? He bought the company, and I am mostly concerned with what he does with it. What happens outside that isn't my concern. I just want these bikes to survive and thrive. |

On the FB EBR 1190 site. In response to someone's comment that he purchased an army, Bruce Belfer: "No. I purchased a company. I lead a team. I serve this army. And I am truly humbled today by all of your well wishes. Thank you for keeping the faith. Thank you all. Now let's get to work..." As I mentioned, One thing that's been absent in my professional "civilian" experience since transitioning from the Air Force in '03 is "leadership" & "leaders". Lots of managers... This guy seems to have the right stuff. DAve https://m.facebook.com/groups/289943317829883?view =permalink&id=515898685234344 |

Not sure if anyone is thinking about it, but being in the metal fabrication business, they could potentially make lots of their own parts. Saving tons of cash. That has lots of potential. (Message edited by Jeremyn on August 08, 2015) |

At the end of the day, does it really matter? Wellll(in my Doc Holiday of tombstone voice), It all matters at the end of the day. What a man is is very important. I would hope he is so upright that he is attacked for it. I would hope that he did exactly what the security job required to insure the safety of all concerned. I would hope the blunt weapon was the legalize used to describe the boot on his foot. Erik has been working with him for a while. That could speak volumes for his character. I want the whole package. Muscle standing behind Erik, brains instead of a manipulated yes man, and character above reproach. In the older years of our "ICON", I want to see iron sharpening iron. A pair of diverse, upright, geniuses pushing each other to achievements they would not have accomplished on their own. I'm tired of seeing Erik just coasting through life. I've been watching a man that thoughts come easy to. I have known a few such people. They need a push. |

Loren, For you or I, he has accomplished more than the two of us together ever will. But don't ever underestimate him. He is one of those that sees things easy. I was gifted with an ability to work metal. I work with people that have to work metal for a living. Some just don't have the ability. Not everyone does. I can weld automobile skin together after it has been stretched beyond its yield and has fractured. I can weld it without warping it. It comes to me as easily as spreading warm butter on toast comes to you. I don't even have to try. For Erik, I'm sure that some of what he does is like that. No one has ever pushed my metal working to the point that I failed. And by not being pushed, I've never reached my peak. Same with Erik. By no means was my comment derogatory or belittling. I want to see just how far he can go. I want him to achieve greatness beyond what we can imagine. |

What Buell needs now, and I think has lacked in the past, is a very savvy marketing strategist. Not a salesman, but someone who can work with dealers, customers and the general public to make the brand known and respected on a much larger scale than it has been in the past. G |

After flipping through the EBR threads, I think that they need to rethink the outsourcing to the Orient and take a good look at the problems and quirks that owners are experiencing. A new motorcycle should be turn the key and go, not bike's dead, radiator from Taiwan busts loose, remove fairing section for dyno runs or else it will get charred, aluminum sprocket looks like shark fins, that kind of thing. I know that nothing is perfect but reliability is a large factor for many when it's time to make a motorcycle purchase. And a REAL shop manual like you'd buy when HarLee was involved would be a big plus. (Message edited by SteveFord on August 08, 2015) |

Steveford, How much more are you willing to spend on the bike for those "upgrades"? Because the money needs to come from somewhere. |
