Very. Wonder what wavelength they were capturing for each type of shot? I think there may have only been 5 seconds of footage in the visible range.

The failure of models to reproduce this hemisphere synchronicity raises interesting implications regarding the fidelity of climate model-derived sensitivity to CO2.

Successful spacex launch today of a dragon capsule to ISS. Can find any video of the attempted first stage landing...or any info on whether it was successful.

Dang! Nice try.

The "landing the rocket like a 50's sci-fi movie" bit is really hard. It's easier to shoot a bullet with a bullet. ( SDI ) Landing on a SHIP? dang.

Not a failure. A partial success. The history of high technology travel is littered with the wreckage of first attempts.

The Wright Brothers wrecked a lot of hardware, and almost died, repeatedly, until they got it to work. The man they followed, & were inspired by, Otto Lilienthal, died in a crash.

How much you want to bet the very first canoe did not float long?

That's a point of debate.

Vegetation found in the mouth of frozen mammoths was tropical. Something drastic and catastrophic likely took place, in order for an animal to be frozen in place. Extremely rapid climate change.

Mammoths lived in a tropical climate. Then something happened and large quantities got frozen rapidly enough to preserve their bodies. I think mammoths, dinosaurs (which were called "dragons" until the word "dinosaur" was invented), and a host of other creatures do not exist because "winter" already came, a long time ago (it was called The Great Flood).

The great flood may have been Gibraltar Opening flooding the Mediterranean Sea. Or a tsunami. Literal interpretation of nomadic tribes history might be misleading. I am not in the six thousand year old Earth club based on a faulty calculation by Lord Rutherford.

What the Mammoth remains tell us is Ice Ages happen hard and fast. Zero historical evidence for the predictions of the Climate Con. It's been far warmer, and life better, 1000 years ago and during the time of Rome & Jesus.

Or maybe the Mammoths just tell us Siberia has long sucked bad.
I'm sticking with the delicious theory.

Only one way to find out. Splice those genes baby!

"The great flood may have been Gibraltar Opening flooding the Mediterranean Sea"

That's the theory I subscribe to. There's an ancient shoreline under a few hundred feet of seawater in the Med, and freshwater shellfish fossils below that.

Short form, Big rock we have to track to make sure it misses. no big deal, unless it hits. Where it hits is important. You don't want it to hit in the Atlantic, Pacific, or Indian Oceans. In fact, not in any Ocean. That would be Bad.

The safest place for it to hit would of course be Washington D.C. Almost no intelligent life there, and aside from the Smithsonian, better vaporized than not.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/04/11/universe_e xpanding_slower_rate/

A terrestrial analogy? Bonfires made with different mixes of dried wood and ash.

The older supernovae were born, lived, and died in a different mix of elements. All heavy metals are made in supernovae, so later, newer ones have more "ash" than the old ones.

More and more scientists are thinking Dark Matter is a theory to fix the Math that doesn't work. It's pretty entrenched today, but how popular a theory is has nothing to do with it being true.

Now back to real potential Climate Disasters.

Current thought is there is little danger of a Supervolcano anytime soon. Since we've never monitored one before and as it erupts, it's all theory, but probably as good a guess as we can make today. I'm not losing sleep over it. A lesser volcano eruption is certainly possible, and again, we won't know all the signs until we measure them.
