I somewhat agree Rick, but I also believe that it may well vary from place to place across our country. From liberal to conservative mostly, but also varies with gender, race, age, city or country, etc, etc.

As an example, last year right here in Utah, about 1 mile from my house, a guy walked into a Walmart, I believe, with a bare AR15 slung across his shoulder went shopping and mostly went unnoticed from anybody. It made the news but nothing evolved from the incident. In NYC, Chicago or LA I believe they would have had a swat team arrive quickly. We also have one of the lowest murder rates in the country and one of the highest CC rates. I have lived here for 33 years after moving from Chicago when it was a great town to be "from" so I've seen both sides of the controversy. When there I had to CC illegally just to stay safe in the areas I worked in. I do not regret my decision. With respect, Bob

Sure. I've lived in IL ,NY, and CA myself. It's mostly the big cities where such sentiments are most prevalent. Folks in rural and suburban areas are often left dealing with the repercussions of big city politics.

Very true Rick, especially right now with this administration and federal laws. That may change with another president in 2016.......hopefully. And you gotta love that patriotic sheriff from Milwaukee county in Wisconsin as well as others fighting for our States rights. Good discussion guys.

The people were ready for a black president and ignored all other relevant facts. History does repeat.

Agreed Rick, and I have quite a few favorites on my short list non of which are Democrats! Still researching, listening and analyzing; its a must thing, to be informed and vote wisely. Hasn't happened by many for at least 6 years. Sad for sure.

This is the true origin of "gun control" in the U.S..

Today it's mixed with the leftist notions of aristocracy and keeping the peasants disarmed, but the truth shows. Hatred for the lesser races by the slave owning class.

Of course they deny history and truth. They consider everyone lesser. Children to be protected from themselves while folk like Bloomberg have heavily armed private armies to insulate themselves from the undesirables.

Good video links...though it's nothing WE don't know and it's stuff the libs, antis, gun grabbers, progressives, Dems, Socialists...whatever you want to call 'em won't consider.

They'd rather continue their exploitive emotional pandering and campaign of well funded lies.

It's not about the facts for them. It's ultimately the goal that is the sole concern. The compromises made and the low stoops taken to further their cause is actually quite extreme and should be frightening for any American, whether they own guns or not. This modus operandi has been used to further all the socialist agendas.

I don't know too much about AR-15 ammo, but this doesn't sound too good:

That greentip ammo is generally just good cheap shooting ammo. Nothing special about it, it has a mild steel core, but that's not that unusual these days.

Heck, they should subsidize it because it has less lead, it should have a green subsidy. ; )

Give it a scary name and ban it.
Pure emotion based manipulation of the Mob.
Preach hate to gain power.
Fear to take rights.
Disarm the slaves. The one constant.

Most gun ranges won't let you shoot had steel cord bullets but the green tip is popular with preppers because of availability and price.

It is a lead core with a mild steel tip. It was designed for use in M16's for fragmentation out to 300 yards while allowing adequate penetration at longer distances. It's been used by the military and sold commercially for decades. In shorter barrels (M4) the performance is less consistent and the ammunition has seen a fair share of criticism since those rifles became widely adopted.

Russian 7n6 5.45 ammunition (mild steel surrounded by lead) was banned last year for the same reasons.

Neither type of ammo is actually armor piercing by any means and doesn't fit the definition.

The precedent used for the ban came in the 80's when "cop killer" teflon coated bullets were banned for "police safety" and a major media blitz was in play in an attempt to ban hand guns. As with most attempts this resulted in manufacturers selling handguns in droves, which led to bans of magazines of more than ten rounds, leading to the proliferation of modern compact concealable guns and a nationwide CCW movement.

I have a rifle that shoots M855/SS109 quite well. In fact, it is all I have used for that rifle.

As the gun control push of this administration has largely backfired this will be the next avenue.

The "sporting purpose" verbage and increasing restrictions on rifle caliber pistols has far reaching implications. For one, the "sporting purpose" verbage has not been applied to US made firearms since the "assault weapon" ban, and pistols are made in rifle calibers of all kinds are available, all of which is easily capable of defeating soft body armor.

Seeing as no lawful gun owner has intentions of killing law enforcement officers with concealed rifle caliber pistols, it should all be a moot point and such bans are totally useless but to remove one if the most popular types of target ammo off the shelves.

Snagged a few of these AR-15 lowers today at $29 a pop. Got the jig to go with it, so it looks like I'll spend a little time making some aluminum chips soon.

Senator Chuck you Schumer (D, NY) is pushing hard to forbid anyone on a terrorist watch list from owning/buying a gun.

This almost makes sense until you remember that there is no real way to get off such a list, you get on a list with no notification, based on informants, bureaucratic whim & advisory from the Dept. Homeland security.... which lists Christian's, veterans, and "people who like the Constitution too much" as terrorist threats..... but not AQ or ISIS.

In other words....citizens. You.

It makes a lot of sense for daily carry.

Save for a few holdouts, it's not looking bad and continues to improve.

A few states don't believe in the Constitution.

Per your map, The ultra liberal bastion of Vermont continues to have virtually no gun laws and an incredibly low crime rate. We have a socialist senator, but the gun control crowd continues to fail at the state house. Even our liberal Dem. governor seems content to let things stand. Glad we still have a citizen legislator with some common sense.

Vermont's low crime rate probably has more to do with its demographics and liberal (in the classical sense of the word) gun laws than its Progressiveness.

Vermont has always been Libertarian.

The Progressives moved there from Mass. to escape Progressive taxes and crime rates, and now want what they fled.
