Price will be ~$8600 US according to LA Times. OK, now I am seriously tempted. |

Looks like a great starter bike that people won't outgrow in a year. I didn't see any mention of weight, but it doesn't look all that heavy. Aluminum swingarm, stressed member engine, single rotor up front. Anyone know what it weighs? |

The olive/silver one, phleeeze. Dunno about the tail styling though- the bike in general reminds me of the new BMW efforts for a simpler but very customizable ride. My old boss at Smoky Mountain HD has been building Sportster based scramblers lately, saw him riding one out a couple of weekends ago. Actually looked pretty cool too. |

Very nice looking bike ..... but if the ergos are anything like the hyperstrada it will be too small for me. |

That is lovely, and close to the right price point! It would absolutely be on my "try before I buy anything" list. My concerns are size (the XB9 was the only "little" bike I've ever ridden that still had good ergos for us big boys) and the exhaust. I'm not seeing how that exhaust could possibly meet EPA emission rules for a VTwin, unless they have done something tragic to the engine power characteristics. |

I'm not seeing how that exhaust could possibly meet EPA emission rules for a VTwin, unless they have done something tragic to the engine power characteristics. It could have something like my VT500FT Ascot, a hidden "power chamber" under the front of the swingarm, except that in this case it would house a catalyst. |

This might help explain the exhaust...

^ Yep, very much like the Ascot arrangement. |

The VT500C Shadow (not sure about the Ascot) had a center stand tucked up under there too. Nice bit of engineering. |

The VT500C Shadow (not sure about the Ascot) had a center stand tucked up under there too. Nice bit of engineering. Yep, Ascot has it too. Only difference is the Shadow had two mufflers connected to the power chamber, one on either side of the bike. The Ascot has a single muffler on the right side. |

49 HP from 490cc's in 1983. That power chamber was doing something! |

More photos and info at Cycle World: http://www.cycleworld.com/2014/09/30/2015-ducati-s crambler-motorcycle-review-first-look-photos-specs -pricing-at-intermot-2014/ BTW- that's a Uly-sized rear tire. If Pirelli will just make a matching front in 17" that'd be a good choice for the more off-road oriented Uly riders. |

Can I put bags on it? That's my first question. The new Monster 821 will have factory hard cases available. It's high on my list to test ride for a new ride. |

Wow Ducati built a Sportster lol I think a Sportster, an Elsinore, and a Monster all had a little too much to drink. Sportie and Elsie sweet talked the Duc into coming back to their hotel room, and things got a little freaky. |

Not to take away from what is a great bike that I am glad Ducati is making and that I would likely recommend to the right person... But look at the specs, and compare them to a 2003 XB9S. The XB kicks it's ass. |

It would be very nice if EBR could eventually find a place for simple, air-cooled V-twins in their model range. I'd love to see what the Elves could do with a clean-sheet air-cooled V-twin engine design. |

I'd love to see what the Elves could do with a clean-sheet air-cooled V-twin engine design. I agree. There's something to be said for the simplistic nature of maintenance, and a power band usable at sane speeds. I don't know if air cooled will be feasible, and I'm not necessarily opposed to a triple! Or a thumper more stylish and capable than the Blast. What I want: Hydraulic lifters ABS Belt drive Luggage options The new 1190 is too hardcore to go touring on. If I get settled in at my new job, and things go well, I might build a track bike. But in the meantime, I'm sticking with my old bikes. My X1 is perfect until further notice. |

I really like what Ducati is offering here and it seems like they are really diversifying their product line as many bike companies do now a days but if I wanted a cafe or street tracker type of bike I would rather have one of the custom made (there are several nice ones), of the HD XR1200 types like Storz performance, etc. for the very easy maintenance. Or just build a lightweight stripped down 1125 CR based bike for super performance. These Ducs are just too heavy for any practical off road riding but would probably make a fine adventure bike. Which brings us right back to a Ulysses for just that.......and easy maintenance. With some removable soft bags on my 1125R it passes just fine for a 500 mile day tour. Bob |

I don't know why any sane person would off road these bikes, they are how ever lovely standards, with the typical itallian flare for design and finish. I will stick with my X1 and 1125 |

Nothing like a little "hipster" nostalgia...? Not as long as I thought; 56.9 wheelbase. (Message edited by teeps on October 01, 2014) |

the Scrambler's simply my M2, 15 years later - & with wire spoke wheels to boot! So are you saying that like it's a good thing, or a bad thing? Personally, I don't see it as a bad thing. Ducati built a Sportster? HD wishes a Sportster could match this. If it's really 375 pounds and sells for $8,600, it's crushing the Sportster IMO. |
