I thought about riding the RX up and staying overnight then heading back. May do that, but I know that will absolutely murder the super soft tire on it. Decisions.
Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT get stuck in rush hour traffic going ANYWHERE on a RX. The clutch is murderous on your left hand & arm. I just spent 20-25 minutes squeezing that thing and I'm done for.
OK, folks. I’ve made sure EBR knows we’re coming, and to be sure we aren’t imposing too much on their business operations while we’re there. The plan is for this to occur on Thursday, May 29th:
• EBR will have an area reserved in their parking lot for Homecoming attendees. • IF THE SCHEDULE ALLOWS, EBR will have the EBR race truck there with bikes on display. • TOURS OF ASSEMBLY AREA will be given from 9am -12pm. It will be arranged in groups of 8-10 or so. When there are a sufficient number of people, they will be guided by EBR staff and the tour should last approximately 20 minutes. COOL!! • They will not be doing test rides this year.
EBR is not the organizer, so please don’t call EBR with questions, suggestions, etc. about Homecoming. They ARE accommodating us and providing space and tours, but this is not their gig. Post questions and suggestions here and we can do whatever we want as far as the other activities/times, etc.
Two Seasons: Any specific details on breakfast? (Friday’s breakfast and BS session at the Two Season’s Garage is highly recommended, BTW!)
I’m still taking t-shirt orders. Deadline for pickup at Homecoming or Road America is May 14th, so don’t delay. See the message above for t-shirt details or PM me.
Maybe contact Alpine Valley and see if we can get a discounted rate? I doubt it will turn out like 2010 did, but if we can get enough to go and fill the place up, they may go for it.
The two_seasons garage will host the Friday morning breakfast on Friday, May 30th, at our shack, for all that like scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage (Jimmy Dean Sage), bagels, cream cheese, toast, orange juice, apple juice, sliced fruit, coffee, and coffee cake. Bottled water too.
I will say, last year's "feast" was worth the trip.
I assumed it (the schedule as it were) would be similar to previous years, so meet up at Gus's on Wednesday throughout the day, Thursday is factory day with dinner at Roma's, Friday is breakfast followed by local rides and Saturday/Sunday is at the track or ride local some more. Those are my tentative plans anyway.
I've put in for my days off, so I hope to make it this year with the RX.
I just made my reservation for the Alpine, arriving Tuesday the 27th, departing on Friday the 30th. $75 per night for a single.
I asked about group rates and how many people would need to make reservations before we'd get any discount. The "boss" won't be in until Thursday so the manager said she'd bounce it off her when she gets in and would let me know. Didn't sound too promising, but I planted the seed.
If anybody else is planning to stay there, post here and make mention of it when you talk to them so they know we're looking at their place as the go-to/stay-at location...except for you campers!
RS: I'd also need it to stand for "really secure"!
