So, yet another designer 'Superbike' which really is nothing of the sort. Yes it has a 200bhp engine apparently, but housed in a chassis as long as a V-Rod with a steering head angle about the same. Couple that with 'old school' twin shocks and you have the turning circle and the handling of a supertanker . Ground clearnace looks rubbish too come to that. The designer has done things for Hollywood before such as the Tron cycle and Oblivion, and I think this is where the so called 'Lotus' bike is destined to be honest! The other parts of this team own Kalex and race at le Mans, so they should have some idea what they are doing (although the design of this horror may prove otherwise!)Coming from a team that is supposedly a high tech leader this is just another peice of overpriced, overblown, overpublicised junk. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I just liked the body work and the integrated exhaust port. Never said it was worth the money or that it was a super bike. In terms of something Vrod-ish it was interesting. Not a big fan of the headlight cowl though. | ||

It's a rendering. The bike doesn't exist. They'll eventually make a handful as a design exercise, but that's about it. | ||

The bike doesn't exist. That is the saddest part of the story. Not only does it exist but it is currently undergoing road tests in Germany. The rendering is by a factory employee and is supposed to be very accurate. My ire is directed at the makers, who have the expertise of Kalex to call upon in addition to leading expertsw in modern composites and race technology, yet can only come up with a 200bhp (ish) cruiser. When it was first announced that Lotus would build a bike I kind of expected something a bit more cutting edge and 'sporty' more than 'Sportster', if you know what I mean. never mind, at least Caterham are going to make something more interesting and affordable apparently......... | ||

I stand corrected. The article says it is rendering. Why use a rendering if it exists in reality? I too would expect something light and agile from Lotus. Look at their cars. | ||

Interesting, I've never seen a rear shock terminate at the rear brake rotor. The radiator shape is reminiscent of two-door coupes, which could be cool, but maybe not for a superbike. | ||

I would like it better if it wasn't branded Lotus. Lotus = small, light weight, awesome handling. At least thats what comes to my mind when I think Lotus. This just looks like a cool cruiser bike. | ||
