The Range Rover driver may face a serious challenge in convincing a jury that his use of deadly force was justified. Crippled "victims" of violent acts typically garner a lot of sympathy.

Not if the video that prompted this thread is admissible as evidence, and he has a decent attorney.

Only a complete incompetent would find for the white bike rider,

The video and the incident are proof of why the second amendment is needed, where were the police ?

The Police were far enough away to give time for Alexian Lien to get beaten. Current line is that he isn't going to be charged, but I imagine the other side is much more excited about the civil suit...

@Rocket- So UK cops would've stopped this incident on an unaccessible highway in real time, but they couldn't do a damned thing to stop two mujahadien from chopping off a soldiers head in the middle of downtown London? Peddle your socialist top down controls elsewhere. Maybe if someone had had the balls to run down those two assholes with a Range Rover instead of whining at them real loud.....

To those chiming in without reading, a repost of a repost-

First the initial "accident" is part of a game they play. They ride in a huge group and will operate together to slow down traffic. Next they pick out high end vehicles targeting people with families in them, the targets will usually be white or Asian. Then one of the riders will do a "brake check" and stop suddenly in front of the target vehicle causing a minor bump. In some cases they will just roll back into their target vehicle. They will then mob the vehicle demanding money and or begin attacking the person inside. It is their practice to also slash the tires to prevent the vehicle from escaping.

Truckers are well aware of them and are advised not to stop. You can clearly see in the video how they are well practiced in this style of attack. The police in NY have backed off them after an officer ran one down using his vehicle a few months back. The video was all over the net so I advise you to check it out.

The helmetcam vid wasn't siezed, he (Michelin Man) proudly posted it, probably expecting sympathy and attention. A concerned citizen has ripped about two hours of his other footage of them being asshats and reposted it.

Enjoy- The Footage That the NYC Bikers Didn't Want You to See (7 more!) UPDATED

http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/the-footage-that- the-nyc-bikers-didnt-want-you-to-see-1435594427

As far as the AMA goes, they should start a fund, and split it evenly between the spinecrushed rider's medical bills, and the Driver's legal fees. That way they could take a stand against what happened here without looking unsympathetic to the injured rider, who frankly didn't deserve what he got. But when you live by the sword...

My Nat. Guard unit was 3/4 black, and being in VA there were a lot of New Yorkers in the unit. One of them was a stunter from before it was "pro"....he also had a pro stock drag bike and did motocross stuff, but he came from that "NY Black Biker" environment and ran a club. He said basically the cops wouldn't fool with the bikers because they couldn't stop them. Nobody had legal plates or anything, they would just split traffic or turn off down an alley too narrow for a patrol car. He had left NY to get out of that environment before it got him into trouble. This was back in 2000....Apparently he was right to, and apparently these fkuctards have taken advantage of the "hands off" approach. I bet they're not "hands off" any more.

Definately an Escape & Evade situation, in-theater, that would have been all the justification needed to shoot your way out of a situation...I watched a 19 year old kid back over a car with a 5-ton truck, it looked like a pancake with an arm flopping out of it......same situation, only with cars in Iraq. We were very aggressive with the traffic after that, that guy in that car was probaby just driving to work, but if we had been held up more than three minutes, odds are we would've been hit. He backed over that one car to avoid running over four or five, and God only knows if the ones if front of him had stopped hm on purpose. I started taking the lead from the gun trucks and blocking whole roundabouts and town centers with the up-armored HEMTT wrecker after that. Run up on it if you want to....

You don't know what these people surrounding you are gonna do. I didn't know the kid driving that truck, but they said it messed with his head, and the SUV driver's whole family has been traumatised here.

They cannot prosecute this harshly enough, an example needs to be made of these asshats.

The Range Rover driver may face a serious challenge in convincing a jury that his use of deadly force was justified. Crippled "victims" of violent acts typically garner a lot of sympathy.

That's largely because they see the "victim" as the person sitting in court with a hair cut, shaven, and wearing a suit and tie, and has a well spoken lawyer speaking for them, knowing exactly what to say. There is almost never video showing the wrong doing and it becomes a "he said, she said" argument. Most folks will take a look at that video and imagine the terror they would feel being surrounded like that with people attacking the vehicle. Even most of us "bikers" are empathizing with the cage driver on this one. Once the father and mother tell their story, and describe what it has done to them since emotionally, they are likely to have a good civil suit against the bikers involved.

Not if they just want to get on with their lives... and not go to long dragged out trial... as time passes.. they will fold... especially if the guy is in wheelchair and suv driver just has a couple little scars on his face.

You are likely correct in that assessment. Having a case and perusing it are different things. BTW, a wise attorney would probably sue everyone involved except the guy in the wheel chair.

The HEMTT is a fine truck. Also available in tanker, flatbed, and box configurations. ( also command post & other versions )

But to really tow something BIG, or run over minor ground obstacles.....

You need a Hercules.

Sir-wadsalot, save the insults please, the UK is the most camera controlled country on the planet. A gathering of this sort in a major UK city would ring huge bells very quickly with a rapid response inc a helicopter most likely.

Comparing this to the disgusting killing in London is ridiculous in the extreme, & trying to make political points off it even more so.

If you've lived for any time in the UK you ought to understand, if you haven't, your comments are baseless.

Re: Blakes comment above . . .

It is important to remember there are Huge Differences between criminal and civil court.

Basically, if you are found guilty (responsible) in criminal court, you are subject to the loss of constitutional rights, not the least of which is life and liberty. Therefore, court rules closely limit what is and is not admissible. In this case, should the biker who got run over be charged with a crime, there would be Absolutely No Mention of his past criminal history. That would come into play only at sentencing, after a verdict of guilty.

In civil court, a person being found responsible (guilty, if you will) can only lose money. Entirely different rules. Now character and past acts become admissible, and can/will be presented to the judge/jury.

Be very interested to find out if Gloria Allred is taking this case pro bono, and how long she stays on board ....

Sir Wads, I think you missed the point I were making. Thankfully, Grumps understood it well.

If you fart here, and someone wants to know about it, you might just get caught. Riding in a pack like that, YOU WILL GET CAUGHT!

The "surveillance state" in the UK is very real. And I'd bet dollars to donuts they have sophisticated facial recognition software universally deployed such that they can tag a person, track where they go with very good reliability, and pull up information about them at will.

All of which made me chuckle when all the UK protestations about the NSA programs came forward. It all came out a bit hypocritical and self righteous.

Just to give you an idea.
The uk equivalent of your DMV also houses the national drivers licensing centre, their database is linked to the customs & excise database which gathers your annual road tax, they're also linked to the dept of transport database who hold info on your annual safety inspection, they're also linked to the national register for insurance.
The police have access to all this data in real-time.
Every motorway service area, & most major junctions are covered by automatic plate recognition cameras, & traffic patrol cars are fitted with them too.
If you're not legal, you'll be caught.

No city in the world rivals NYC for keeping an eye on who's here and what they are doing. Part and parcel for being the world's #1 terrorism target.

No one, in a low level crime (which in the big scheme, this encounter is) is about to show the cards.

The beauty of being on an island is that you know precisely where to photograph everybody and everything that enters.

If the bikes swam in . . . .no problem . . our unmarked blimps will find them.

By the way . . . you guys are pretty keen. If . . . just supposing . . you were in charge of deploying an "unmarked blimp" wouldn't you paint something, perhaps Fuji film or EBR on the side. A plain white "unmarked:" blimp stands out like a sore thumb.

We also have a large number of black vans running around town with the most amazing arrays of antenna atop them I've ever seen.

The fellow who smashed the window out of the Range Rover is turning himself in this afternoon in Queens.

I want to see the EBR Blimp!!

Moreover - There is a big difference between gathering evidence to prosecute the perps, and actually protecting the citizens. Such a system in New York, would gather evidence that *someboby* is riding a motorcycle without plates. Now what??? this guy has never had a license at all, he has no plates, and one of the pictures of Jeremiah Miese shows hime sporting one of those skull lower face masks - I have a similar one for cold weather. Facial recognition software would likely get as far as popping out the SKU to order same from JP Cycles, but not much more.

We've heard it said that the police don't engage these guys because they can't effectively pursue.

I'm seriously waiting for the public outcry that, since the Police have no way to protect against them, even with all the high tech anti-terrorism stuff in NYC, then motorcycles just shouldn't be allowed on the island. If a 32 oz. fountain drink is a public menace, well...

England just isn't up to 1984 standards.

It's not just the cameras, it's the video screens, feeding the propaganda 24/7.....

Oh. Wait. Phones.

Never mind. you're there. It's cheaper, and it doesn't ruin the view. Bravo.

The local police cruise around and the cameras on the cars track the position of every license plate, and registration. ( separate data )

It's a wonderful system for persecuting or prosecuting. You can play James Bond/Austin Powers tricks, and track a suspect. It will lead, soon to automatic convictions based on gathered data.

And it won't stop any crime at all.

Police willing to do the job, with or without super tech, that stops crime, but never all of it, ever. That's a pipe dream.
