Clearly, we should require all home made bombs to be registered, make it illegal (well, even more illegaler) to use more than 1 bomb in a suicide attack, and declare Boston a "bomb free" zone. And ban "assault bombs" (the black ones).

: (

My prayers for the victims.

This was clearly terrorism. The only question is if it was domestic or foreign based responsibility.

I live about 40 miles west of Boston. I feel really bad about the poor people who were just enjoying a beautiful Spring day when their lives were shattered. The latest I've heard is two dead (one, an 8 year old child), and 85 injured. I hope they find whoever is responsible. Using homemade bombs to kill innocent people and children is a sure sign of Cowardace. I would whole heartedly support the Death Penalty to rid the world of such scumbags.

The race is a celebration of individualism in the most American of American Cities. I run but not that race and everyone I know at the race has checked in ok. If a forigner thinks they can break america or boston with this crap they have sh*t for brains. If it was someone born here they will have another special place in hell.

My prayers for the victims and their friends and families.

Makes me sick to my stomach.

One of my co-workers was watching the 'breaking news' with me and said "this is gonna turn us into a police state, with a cop with an M-16 at every mall and on every corner".

Y'know...I kinda hope it does. This shit has got to stop. People have no respect anymore. Maybe a show of force will shove them back in line, and keep these assholes underground where they belong.

Why do people have to use terrorism and murder to make political points? I can't believe that innocent people on the streets can become victims again for no real reason. My deepest sympathy to all those affected by this heinous crime.

Yeah, that's working.

Defeat them. Go to work, go shopping, carry on as you normally would. And do it with a target painted on your shirt in defiance.

Instead of cringing, hiding, wringing your hands, and crying for big brother to protect you, stand firm, refuse to knuckle down. They seek to control you. They will not control me. I will kneel to no one other than my creator.

+1 on what Fast said: I went through something similar in London in the '70's & '80's with the IRA bombings against civilian "Targets". The XMas bombing campaigns were designed to create maximum terror for shoppers and disruption to the emergency services etc'.
Just get out there, be alert, and live your life the way you always have.
If you are cowed by terroristic actions the terrorists have "won".
Look at the "helpers" for inspiration. So many people queued to donate blood that the Red Cross was turning them away.
Look too at the people who ran towards the danger to help those caught up in it.
Society may be ailing in America but there are thousands of individuals prepared to stand up and help for every person who commits these types of atrocities.

BTW: I'm one fourth Irish and had a large degree of sympathy for the Irish cause. However, I did not agree with their methods.

And then came Attorney General Holder’s recent premonition about a new threat: the “homegrown terrorist.” Speaking to ABC news, Holder’s statement signals a decisive shift in the script governing the ongoing campaign:

“It’s a very serious threat. I think what it says is that the scope, our scope, has to be broadened. We can’t think that it’s just a bunch of people in caves in some part of the world. We have to be concerned about the homeland to the same extent that we are worried about the threat coming from overseas”.

The implications of this statement are staggering, for it turns the United States into the new “battlefield.” Systems of tyranny perfected abroad are always turned inward. It only took a decade for the same tactics of warfare that were previously restricted to foreign countries to now being applied domestically.

The more I think about this the more it seems like the work of a domestic psycho like the theater shooter in Colorado, someone looking for attention and a body count.
I would expect foreign terrorists to have more political targets than a marathon.
Whoever it is, I hope they find him/them before they can do something like this again.

The present administration must be hoping this is a domestic non-Muslim terrorist. Those are the ones the they think are the threat, and have directed law enforcement to be on the hunt for. Those darn Tea Partiers must have done this. And then picked up their trash.

Thoughts and prayers to all injured by this, and a special prayer to the families of the murdered victims.
I completely agree that the best way to deal with this is to go about our lives but with more vigilance about whats going on around us. As a people we have much more power to deal with something like this than "with a cop with an M-16 at every mall and on every corner". Its up to EVERYONE to keep a watchful eye on our surroundings, to notice something out of the ordinary and react accordingly. WE are everywhere, cops are not and i sure as F&^K dont want cops on every corner!
An educated, motivated populace is the best anti-terrorist solution, and YES, ARMED also.

This one is close to home. I've been on that street watching the race on a couple of occasions after a ball game. My heart goes out to Bill Richards. He is the father of Martin Richards, the 8 year old that was killed in this act of terrorism. Not only did he lose his 8 year old son but his 6 year old daughter lost a leg and his wife had brain surgery today for her injuries.

For those who are not from the area, Monday was Patriots Day. A holiday to commemorate the battles of Lexington & Concord. The Boston Marathon is on this holiday every year as well as a Redsox game that starts at 11am so the game should end by the time the runners start making their way to the finish line.

Thank God that those bombs didn't go off when the elite runners finished. My prayers to all affected by this senseless act of cowardice.

I heard some modestly encouraging news:
That assclown that set the bombs used pressure cookers as a bomb casing.
One device didn't go off.
Everything has serial numbers nowadays.
It's not going to be a unibomber type of thing where everything was made by hand in the woods.

Some dick is going to pay for this.

What are the odds that the Chechen War is being fought in Boston?
And the names of the perps would harken to one of the darkest mass killers of all time?
"Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev"

Tamerlane:

"Scholars estimate that his military campaigns caused the deaths of 17 million people, amounting to about 5% of the world population.[18][19]"

And another thing:

What really pisses me off is the co-opting of April 19th, one of the most significant dates in our country's history, by these A**HOLES that want to "make a statement" about their petty causes and extreme disgruntlement.

Other than Salon.com, MSNBC, etc?

Go ahead and curse me, but I Have to ask.

How long do I have to wait after some OTHER guy Murders people, and MANY people in "media" exploit those murders for their own ideology, to make fun of THEM?

Is 5 days ok, but not 4?
