its not done for yet, one issue is the race in New Jersey that wasn't expected, they're also saying it might not be here for 2012 but more likely for 2013. Its on the local news daily

Man the concept for the track is just awesome. I can't wait to see the finished product.

Oh and riding on it someday would be even cooler I imagine. Wonder if they'll let novice guys on it for lapping days? ; )

Here's a copy of the email that they sent out last week, everything is a GO!!

It’s Official. The Race is On!
Thanks for hanging in there with us! Working for, and being fans of, a start-up organization that is building a major new facility is not always easy. Because of the complexity of the project, things don't always happen as quickly as we would all prefer.

In the end, the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix™ in Austin is a reality because everyone involved wanted to get it done for the benefit of Formula 1™ in the United States. Mr. Ecclestone, the F1 teams and their sponsors, our investors and the State of Texas – this event benefits all of us.

We are through the first series of challenges and now we get to the exciting part – finishing the construction of the Circuit of The Americas™, selling tickets to the 2012 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix and creating plans for an incredible fan experience.

Stay tuned! We will be making a lot of announcements over the next several weeks regarding our partnerships, ticket sales, event information and much more. We promise to keep you, our most committed fans, well informed as we move forward.

The 2012 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix is going to be a great event! We look forward to seeing you in Austin November 16-18, 2012.

Sincerely,
Geoff Moore
Chief Marketing and Sales Officer
Circuit of The Americas

I think you would have to be crazy to buy tickets in advance for this year. Chances are about 50/50 this event ever happens and if they claim bankruptcy there goes your money!!!

I am about 40 miles from the track grounds, and what I have seen on the local news it is back on track for a 2012 race, as hard as it seems to beleive from what I have seen of what is done out there now.

Contracts are signed and sealed for F1 in 2012, and it is very unlikely that once they have been signed anyone will be able to back out. Bernie Ecclestone would not allow it to happen once he has a contract in his hand.

Not sure if the 2013 MotoGP race is a definite yet, but F1 surely is.

Come on out! I don't have a lot of room in the house, but I have an acre we can put a lot of tents on. There are quite a few of us local Hellbuellies, and I am probably the farthest north of the track actually.

I'm sure all Hellbuellies will be making the most of the events, and there has never been a lack of hospitality 'round here
