But what really make me mad is all the crap JoePa took for not stepping down and not doing more. I hear nothing about the fact ESPN is going after ratings and "MONEY" by televising Saturdays game on their station. ESPN is taking advantage of such a terrible situation to make a large sum of money and people want to bash on Paterno, WHATEVER... I have two words for those folks... FU(K YOU!!!

And he should have taken crap for it, he let it go on.

And this week and next week's Penn State games were scheduled to be televised on ESPN. Cars.com, the sponsor, pulled their sponsorship for both games due to the crimes committed. So I think they took a little hit for televising the game.

I so agree with Slaughter. The pros ought to have their own farm teams just like they do for baseball. College athletics needs to be for college students who want to enjoy some games against other nearby colleges, nothing more, nothing less.

When the suits are totaled up the college will most likely be sold to pay Awards
Mc creery should be beaten for walking away from what he saw Sanduky doing to the kid in the shower. He is a gutless scumbag coward! Sandusky should have been out on the floor when the Leos and paramedics arrived on scene.
Its lucky for these men No lets call them what they are animals are in custody. Upon conviction General population!

"And he should have taken crap for it, he let it go on."

I never said he should not have took crap for it. He just took more than the other coach who actually witnessed the horrible crime. The biggest blame next to Sandusky should fall on McQueary!!! FYI... next time you take a statement. How about copy the rest of it that shows. I said he should have done more and deserved getting fired!!!

"And this week and next week's Penn State games were scheduled to be televised on ESPN. Cars.com, the sponsor, pulled their sponsorship for both games due to the crimes committed. So I think they took a little hit for televising the game."

They have not taken enough of a hit and I'm sure some other customer have or will filled the spot vacated by cars.com

"College is for learning not for throwing balls around."

You are correct. But think about this... Less than 3% of all College Football players make it to the NFL. So that tells me there is a little more than 97% who actually go to college to learn and have the awesome experience to pay Football.

There are 119 Division 1 schools each school has about 100 players. That equals 11900 players. The NFL draft has 7 rounds that is 224 players selected each year. Say there are a few who are from Div. 2 & 3 that make it and non drafted free agents so round it up to 300 make the NFL each year. That equals about 2.5% of college players make it to the NFL any given year. So there are 11600 players who are there to learn more than just "throwing balls around" for their future.

Buellifer how many actually graduate In something other than Athletics or coaching? How many actually finish at all
in College Sports there is the Myth of the Student athlete . Realty is the majority of the players are used up so the Alums will donate money to the school. We need to stop pretending and just make college sports a farm team for the pros and at least pay the players that get used up and discarded. Once these kids get hurt the free ride is over and out they go crippled with an incomplete education and years behind fellow classmates.

Athletics and coaching seem like a reasonable career choice to me, especially if combined with an education, accounting, or physical therapy degree of some kind.

I do wonder how they stay up with school. But on the other hand, if they put the "light schedule" quarter on top of the season (as opposed to summer), that could help. And I worked co-op jobs, sales jobs, and in the computer lab for my whole college career. Those hours were probably comparable.

Reepi I looked up some of the stats most never finish school if they get hurt they are gone. Most of these kids cant read.
Two years ago the local high school running back that went off to college on a football scholarship came to work for me as a plumbing apprentice. He played 1/2 A season and tore his acl scholarship was pulled he took computerscience good at it football was his ticket to school.
He didnt have the money to pay for his next semester. So he is on his way to being a plumber. I suspect he will be a contractor one day.
Point is the scholarship should be till his degree is completed.
Its pay for play its not about the kids education its about $ for the school.

Assuming ( big assume ) that the one ass. coach was a kiddie rapist, and that the head coach reported it as per regs.... looks to me like the entire top bureaucracy of the college needs to be canned, and prosecuted after a serious investigation. I'd arrest the whole bunch while I scoured their records on this.

Joe doesn't get a pass from me completely. I'm pretty sure that the reason this went on so long is the money factor as far as the college admin goes, but when you have a child rapist ( and, sorry, 10 year olds do not have the legal authority to consent ) in your employ, you get rid of him. The college must own a backhoe.

Thanks Mark I knew you'd back me up.
How in the hell could McCreary have witnessed a crime against a child and not taken action on the spot.
Then work with him like nothing happened.
This man(I can't even speak his name) should have been stopped then and there.

Bus:

Why would you want his life to be short, in the pen?

I want his life to be LONG. As LOOOONG as possible.

That given, if these charges are confirmed, and the man/POS is sentenced, I want him to LIVE.

This puts me in direct conflict with my being agnostic. I know what Jesus would do, but, somehow, if Sandusky can find forgiveness with God, I hope Jesus does what He said He would. We could just dispatch him NOW, with a bullet, but... here on Earth, we KNOW that suffering exists. Being human, not divine, we wish the worst on Sandusky. Not my place to judge, I wasn't a witness.

Otherwise, what we're all talking about here, on BW, is simply reaction to reported horrors.

Had I witnessed such a crime, no, such a sin, I'd have stepped back silently, grabbed a second witness, a photo with my cel if possible, then-

I'dve done everything within my power to resolve the situation. Within moments, OWNED the perp, released the kid. Hopefully not done anything to warrant a homicide charge myself. Using all given peaceful tactics as possible to secure the scene, and to rescue the kid. Afterward, all bets are off. (He might not make it to jail with his fingernails...)

I hope to live my life as well as I can, given what I've been taught, seen, as once a man from Nazareth might've... yet, I'm still a sinner, and will be.

Just my $.02. Peace and love to all youn's.

Sandusky is undoubtedly the worst kind of scum, but isn't it also true that many sexual abusers like him were sexually abused when they were kids? That's no excuse for his actions AT ALL, but it just goes to show you how truly evil something like this is. Like somebody said, if somebody had reported him the FIRST time he did something slightly inappropriate, maybe it never would have gotten this far and all those lives that have been ruined, wouldn't have been, including his.

Our man from Nazereth said those who harmed children should have millstones put around their necks and be thrown into the sea.

Sex, money, power. Sex for Sandusky. Power for Joe Pa, money for the university. An inconvenient truth, indeed.

Basically pedophiles are gay rapists they just pick defenseless victims mentally as well as physically. If you break it down it blows the myth of gays not being rapists the only difference is age and controlablity of the victim

Kenm... I think you draw an unwarranted conclusion there. Gay=rapist is just not so.

That's as foolish as Male=rapist of the radical femlibs. I'm a male femlib myself, so I can tell you that that thought process is foolish and self destructive. It also blinds you to the real truths. That's true of you and the rad femlibs in that, gash darn it, I'm male and I'm not a rapist! I'm pretty sure the vast majority of gays I've met aren't, and while you might find a slight statistical co-relation between anyone ever busted for indecent behavior and rapists that doesn't really mean squat. ( because of the restroom thing that congresscritter whatshisname did. It's hazardous )
It's like the co-relation that almost all cocaine users smoke cigarettes.

Rapist, period, is enough. Can't stand em. Little kid rapist? Backhoe. Are we at least in agreement on that?

Aes The APA is our least reliable professional association. They and Journalists have about the same chance of non political leaning opinons.
Have you found the real Numbers of boys to girls that are moleated each year by men versus women. Recent headline suggest that more boys are molested by men and women. Does the FBI uniform crimes statistics break this down?. I ll have to ask my leo nephews. Its rapist thats gay not all rapists are gay. The point is we are told gays arent rapists and pedophiles that choose boys are. Evil is not limited to a single group in Society All groups have evil members

Oh! "the myth that Gays are not (ever) rapists...."

My misunderstanding. Sure there are gay rapists. The numbers on the molestation thing would be interesting.

There is a difference in attitude on older male/younger female vs. older female/younger male. It would be obviously wrong for a 40+ year old man to have sex with, say, a 14 year old girl. ( legal to marry with permission, some states ) While a 40+ year old woman and a 14 year old guy just makes us envious.

It's like the modern electronic toys I never had as a child. "Cougars" were unknown in my youth. ( so taboo it went unspoken ) I'm pretty sure I would have jumped right up for Courteney Cox. ( come to think of it.... still might )

Still. taking advantage of innocent youth, curious or horny as they may be, has to be treated like it is. A 10 year old can't give consent. So...... backhoe.

Sexually attracted, you know, I enjoy young people. I love to be around them. But no I'm not sexually attracted to young boys.

If only it worked out that way. I had a friend who had a full ride basketball scholarship to U of NC. After his first year he walked away from the scholarship. The reason why was that he wanted an education. Even with his desire to learn, he found the whole system was so stacked that it made getting a quality education virtually impossible. It's true that many diplomas will be issued, that otherwise wouldn't because of sports programs. Sports programs provide very little opportunity for education though. I don't think this is much of an issue for many institutions though.

If you want an EDUCATION - go to a school with the reputation for graduating people who actually get real jobs. Colorado School of Mines is one that comes to mind. Buddy of mine's kid went on a full-ride scholarship and the AD took great pride in explaining to him how many of their grads got ENGINEERING jobs.

I tend to disagree Sifo. Friend of mine did pre-med and made the SMU football team as a walk-on. This was in the pre-death-penalty glory days, undefeated, national championship.

Another friend who I met in my freshman chemistry class, Jon Koncak, Eagle Scout, SMU Grad and NBA veteran of 9 years. Great guy.

There's not much time for fooling around for sure, but studious types can get through okay.

I also on occasion studied with a fellow SMU mechanical engineering student and his GF, also mech eng. He was a lineman on the football team.

Sandusky and Michael Jackson would have been swell friends it sounds like. : [

Ken, I've got the big wasp thing going. Running a Luminetics yellow bulb. When I first saw the Reactor Yellow Cyclone in the store, it was surrounded by black hogs. It looked like a wasp ready to strike... I've sorta kept that look. I've removed the bra and added the carbon fiber race filter since that pic.

After the interview, I no longer assume innocent until proven guilty. I have an opinion now.

If he did a transfer in anticipation . . . it'll be easily voided. A bit tough to prove but a fairly low bar.

I feel sorry for so many of the folks involved in this. Lives, careers and hearts have been broken and I sense they are only scratching the surface so far.

What troubles me is this appears to be an apparent long term criminogenic activity, not only by Sandusky but also the sports department and university acting in a common scheme to hide past and perpetuate ongoing pedophilia. Not good. I'm only an armchair lawyer, but gee whiz . . .
