I have to get some more pics of my guys...but I do love dogs.

Just watched my border collie mix - my ONE EYED border collie mix - snatch a moth right out of the air like it was nothing.

hehe...

And I thought to myself as my six year old pug was fetching the tennis ball tonight, "I need to get pictures of this while I can". My sixteen year old aussie mix was chasing her, full-bore run, big huge grin on his face. Great to see grandpa runnin' like that!

Xena the Worrier Princess

Right after we got her, at 10 weeks:

At about 5 months(she's 2-1/2 now, looks about the same still):

She comes to the shop every day, barks at all the walk-in customers right before she licks them to death. Customers that are dog people get her just fine, but customers that aren't dog people are a bit put-off by her barking and fur raising. I don't worry at all about her biting, it isn't in her nature, but she sure tells people that they're entering HER shop. She has about the best dog life a dog can have, since she doesn't have to spend the day home alone.

She reminds me every day when the UPS man has just left that it's time for me to throw the frisbee to her in the shop parking lot. She's a great frisbee dog, rarely drops one that I throw to where she can catch it, and chases down a bunch that I'd never believe she'll catch.

We don't know exactly what she is, but whatever it is, there's lots of herding dog in her, all the herding instincts are there. She's very smart, and learns tricks faster than any dog I've ever had. I think herding dogs (collies, border collies, cattle dogs, shepherds, etc) are the smartest ones out there, and they're great pets, IF you have time to let them run around. They need lots of exercise.

I am not sure if this was a territorial thing, or a friendly molestation... but Peggy had a recent trip to the washing machine... lol

looking at Petfinder DOT com is gonna get me in trouble....

got a date to go see this little girl on Sunday

her story...

Have you smiled today? Sweetie JoyAnna can help keep a smile on your face 365 days a year! JoyAnna is, as you might guess, a very joyful girl. She loves people, other dogs, tennis balls, running, treats...you get the picture! JoyAnna was rescued by CAHS humane agents after being abandoned in a vacant house. This poor girl was suffering from a skin condition that caused major hair loss and a serious case of the itchy scratchies. Luckily for JoyAnna, her humane agent heroes brought her to a place where she received the proper treatment for her skin condition and lots of TLC to reassure her that nobody would leave her behind ever again. Joy's fur has grown back to a luxurious coat of rich chocolate brown, eye-catching blue and just right spots of white on all four paws and more. JoyAnna is a very friendly, social and outgoing pup. At about 10 months old, lovebug JoyAnna is nearly full grown but full of puppy curiosity, adorableness and mischievous energy. JoyAnna makes easy friends with the other dogs at the shelter. She has a dorky, bouncy play style with her canine pals and enjoys a lively romp. JoyAnna is learning to ride in a car and likes to put her head in her person's lap to get some reassurance about the world outside whizzing by. She loves field trips and new adventures. JoyAnna is a member of the Bully Breed Program. As with all our Bully Program members, JoyAnna comes with a lifetime of free training and support in our pit bull only training classes. JoyAnna is looking for a loving, responsible and knowledgeable furever family.

Mark - get her, she'll be your friend for life. Neighbors have one just like her, but they pretty much ignore her, however, they do allow us to come over with the "little" dog and play with her regularly. We slip her treats and decent food all the time. She wouldn't hurt a fly, and just wants to play and protect her home ground with barking - lol - smart as a whip and twice as fast, which is good if she wants to keep up with our little girl. I don't think you can go wrong with a female bull.
Here's our little Roxie -

We seldom let her off leash unless far away from roads, she is just too fast and curious. At a camp site once - we let her run at a dog area - the two Corgies couldn't get near her, and when a guy loaded up his lab in the back of his jacked up GMC, he then got in, and she ran over, without breaking stride jumped over his lap into the passenger side, ready to go on another adventure. The guy busted up laughing, and we called her and she jumped back out. That speed, ultra quick reflexes, and agility has served her well when playing with our 125 lb GGSD - Kublia -

Love em both.

We just got a new addition to our canine family from the local Humane Society on Tuesday. He was turned in by an elderly lady that had to be placed in a care facility. He is a 12yr old Spaniel mix. Looks like a little bear cub. Gets along great with our 15yr Border Collie mix just fine. Will post some pictures as soon as I can.

Wolfridgerider-she is adorable!! Give her a great forever home!!

Heck, I love this thread...

Not to be "Debbie Downer", but I've not posted here about my buddy's passing. Lost him on 5/22.

Sometime I've gotta learn to post pics- as a young Basenji, he was magnificent.

I have more physical, in your hands, 4X6 glossys than probably any other subject to enter my camera's/mind's eye.

He was always great, always my buddy. I've lost him, but I shall find him again.

Eddie and a borrowed dog named... Loki actually. We were thinking of adding him to the household. Not sure I want to have to train another basenji though, it's kinda a lot of work.

Eddie's got the black collar.

Buggles- you've GOT to be kidding...

What's the story? Is this a rescue/unwanted Basenji? How bout some more pics?

Seeing ONE Basenji is like seeing Bigfoot, they're that rare- from time to time I go look at the BRAT site, that's about as good as it gets...

Let me know what goes on with that dog- I've pledged to have my property fully fenced in before I get another dog, especially a young dog, REQUIRED for a young Basenji...

Still tempting to think about it...

Local guy, paid too much for the dog (papered but agreed to get him fixed, so he is). Bought the dog with the wife, now ex-wife, travels a lot for work and can't be there for the guy. Dude told me he'd go as low as $225 on him, he paid $500. I was, and am tempted, but we really don't have enough space here in the condo for two of these things.

Dog is a real sweetheart. Loves to cuddle, happy to get attention. He is supposedly house trained, but we had to restrict his water or he'd pee everywhere.

Happy pup, nine months old now, pretty skinny, skinnier than Eddie ever was. He's a bit taller than Eddie.

I thought of you and your Loki when he told me his name Squids. Good dog that needs training. Nearest Basenji rescue out here is in Denver. I worry that the owner will take him to a shelter out of desperation.

If we "borrow" him for another weekend I'll probably check his blood sugars with my meter since he pees so much and is so skinny. Would be a bummer if he was diabetic.
