That's pretty cool, but...
I just bought a new shield yesterday for $40. $129 to $149 for this product to permanently bond to my face shield brings the shield price up to $169 to $189 for a face shield. And then I have to charge my helmet with a USB cord. Pretty cool, but it's not for me. I consider a face shield a safety item that wears out fairly quickly and should be replaced. YMMV. | ||

It is a very cool idea, but Sifo has a good point. faceshields get scratched up and 150 extra everytime I need one would suck. but still a great idea other than that | ||

My helmet has a flip down shade, no need to every switch visors except when scratched. It is cool but I don't see it catching on. | ||

Bell has a photo whatever shield. think transitions lens. That is spendy as well, $150 if I recall. | ||

A FOM rides with the Bell transition shield. Apparently, it works well but he is afraid to wipe bugs off of it with anything other than an optical cloth. FWIW: I ride 5-6 days a week from 0630-2030 wearing a light tinted shield on my Shoei with no problems (I do live in Florida though) YMMV Chris C | ||

I'm curious how this works, I've seen a similar variable car tint a while back that worked like that, except you could make it lighter or darker. The problem is, if the electrical current was interrupted (dead battery, broken wire), the tint would go 100% pitch black. | ||

I see a potential for being able to carefully remove it to change shields. New two sided foam tape is easy to get. If your old shield is trashed it would make it easier to change. It must be the same kind of e technology in my welding helmet shade. Interesting, but what would I do with my $95.00 iridium blue tint shield that I like so much? Hmmmm.....perhaps when that gets scratched up..... | ||

A coworker of mine has a Bell Star with the transition visor. He picked the visor up for just over $100. Not that bad IMO since a regular smoked visor for my RF-1100 was about $65. I asked how it works a couple days ago, so he took the visor outside into direct sunlight with a cloth wrapped around half the visor. Walked back inside to show that half the visor was as dark as any dark smoked visor, the half that was covered with a cloth was still 100% clear. | ||

That is what I thought about the flash shields in welding helmets and rear view mirrors in vehicles. Now they are the norm. They will probably come out with a helmet with a specific E lens for it. | ||

Yeah, but there's no battery power to worry about in a car, and the welding helmet allows you to keep both hands on your work, and not worry if your crappy hat won't stay up or drop down on command like it's supposed to. | ||

Awsome Froggy please let me know all about it as i am keenly interested. BTW i believe it the opposite it is the current that tints no the lack of. I worked for a company that had this type of tech in glass walls surrounding a conference room and when the power went out they were crystal clear. | ||

I got it today! Installed and rode to work with it. I need a little more time to come to a conclusion, but so far I am happy with it. I was thinking about this technology some time ago but for a different use. I was considering coating my licence plate with it linked to a photo receptor. When the speed camera flashes the plate goes black. Question is would it be fast enough to block the photograph. | ||
