Today after 22 yrs of service in the USAF I am officially RETIRED! I picked up my new "blue" ID card yesterday but it still hasn't hit me that I'm finished with that chapter of my life and I haven't put on a uniform in 2 months!

I started out as a F-111 crew chief, did that for 3 yrs, Retrained into electronics and ended up working on Defense Meteorological Satellite equipment, then spent a few years working on a telescope. 5 years in Combat Comm working on tactical weather equipment, then wide band microwave radios for a couple of years. After that I was working on SATCOM equipment in an Air Control Squadron, then the deployment cell. Last job in the AF was spent as the base Career Assistance Advisor, a job I really loved. Made a difference in peoples lives on a daily basis.

During my time I met and worked with some of the best people on this planet defending this great Nation.

I will miss it...

Now on to the next chapter. Anyone have any good job lead in the Oklahoma City area?

Oklahoma City ! Wow ! Why ?

Hey congratulations and thanks for taking care of us civilians who just couldn't do what you did.

I think you need to buy a new bike to celebrate and get out and ride it across the country... I just did and it was probably the best thing ever !!!!

E6's fly out of OK City. You may be able to get a depot level job. Being retired military helps.

If you have children, plan a terrific vacation with them this summer.

If you are single, maybe take a month and get your own mojo squared away and see the country on your Uly.

Either way, think about forming your own company and do what you love to do.

At least that is what I would do at 41 years old with a gov't pension going into the bank every month.

Good luck and thank you for your service to this great country we call home

For sure riding a Buell across the country will get your mojo back... now if I can figure out where it went since the trip ended, that is another story.

Congratulations and THANK YOU for your dedication and service to this country. You sir have served during 3 wars in the middle east and some of the most trying times for the US Military.

Take the family on a nice vacation like someone stated above, they as well as you have earned it. Many times the military family gets forgot about but they are true American heroes as well. Please tell them THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS from me as well.

Jimmy

I'm in OKC...

Jobs are relatively plentiful here if your educated. Lots of Manufacturing jobs too.

Look me up when you get into town.

Thanks all for the well wishes and it was my pleasure to serve.
I came back to OKC for a couple of reasons, it's my home but we dont plan on staying here for forever. The other reason is to give my parents plenty of time with their only grandchild. Last reason is the economy. OKC is fairly safe and where we wanted to go, the foothills above Denver, isn't but hopefully it will recover.

I was medically retired so we had to make the decision on a place fairly quickly and this was the safe bet.

I've got a couple leads on jobs and I'm really waiting to see what my VA disability rating is going to be before I dive to deeply into a new job.

Thanks again and ride safe!

Are you going to offer you a settlement or will you get the full retirement pay plus disability?

Either way... congrats.

>>>>>>>>>>>>The US invented the bomb, but the Norweigans invented Gfeltefish...

From Wikipedia:
Gefilte fish from Yiddish: "stuffed fish" They are popular in the Ashkenazi Jewish community and are typically eaten on Shabbat and Holidays

Lutefisk (Norwegian) or Lutfisk (Swedish) (Finnish: lipeäkala)) is a traditional dish of the Nordic countries and parts of the Midwest United States. It is made from aged stockfish (air-dried whitefish) or dried/salted whitefish (klippfisk) and lye (lut). It is gelatinous in texture, and has an extremely strong, pungent odor. Its name literally means "lye fish."

I seem to remember allot of really useless information
