Dave says...

>>> Don’t forget, if you are christian and you see anyone working on the sabbath it is your duty to kill them!

>>> … I am the LORD, who makes you holy. Yes, keep the Sabbath day, for it is holy. Anyone who desecrates it must die... (Exodus 31:12-15 NLT)

The Priests had to work on the Sabbath.

I almost pointed that out Ken.

Guell, if you don't like them, avoid them. Life doesn't get any simpler. Ain't it great?

Yep. I often fall into the Sunday thing when I know full well the Sabbath is Saturday. I missed that.

I've tried to urge Dave to learn about the effect of the new covenant established by Jesus Christ on behalf of humanity, the very core of the Christian faith. He just keeps repeating the same accusation over and over. There's no sign that he is actually interested in learning. It's a shame.

Mathew 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

What about Matthew 7.1?

My judgement, $.02, et cetera, is that there's a whole lot of it going around.

The reason Sunday is the Christian Sabbath is that Jesus rose on that day. Early Christians had to distinguish themselves from the jews that they had been. Or maybe it's just good old sentimentality. Don't know, but if I recall, it's in the Book.

Early Roman Christians had to hide their religion, or view Lions and Gladiators from far too close up. That's why Christmas is in late December. Feast Of Saturnalia was a good thing to hide your party under.

Lots of "religious" stuff in Christianity is lifted from local, older religions. So what? Almost all of Islam is "borrowed", and the rest is one dudes serious OCD problem, and the "explanations" (by later scholars) for the contradictions built into the Koran, which was written over a lifetime. The older Mohammed was a bit mellower towards women, ( which is why when "correcting" your female property, you are to use a cane no thicker than a man's thumb ) but a bit more hung up on ritual. Pity the guy wasn't a Mason. He'd have gone far. ( only my opinion. I'm already to be enslaved Then killed by that religion's rules, so &^*( them )

Modern pagans have a mashed together religion as well. "Do no Harm" is still a good rule.

Lots of "christian" stuff isn't in the Bible, either. The God of Abraham (don't do any technology on your day off ) does not seem to be the God of Jesus of Nazareth. Blame that on people. Not God. ( or blame Loki. I do. )
