Miss You - Rolling Stones.
Dirty Low Down - Boz Scaggs
Zappa? How about "Dancin' Fool"? Not really disco, but a hilarious commentary on it.
+1 on "Theme from Shaft"!
Yeah, Wolfie, "Videodrome" was a classic; pretty scary premise.

He taught me how to eat pizza. I had a polyester suit and picked up a white silk shirt when I was in Texas. Paint can made it look like he had a reason to be walking around.

How many cars drove off the road to Donna Summer's "love to love you baby"?

While "disco sucks" is the meme, there were a few great tunes from that era.... and lots of drek. Just like later.

hippy summer baby, maybe if the parental units had used a VW Kombi to consumate in instead of the VW Beetle, I would have been taller

(swimmer would have more room to work its lap pattern)

worse of it is, they werent even hippies, there were wannahippies, protesting the man, and rockin the counterculture.... but from a 'safe' distance

Boulder hippies ala 1967-1970 ugh

Interesting...

Just Wiki'ed it, "Rapper's Delight" was a derivative of Chic's "Good Times"...

I tried once to do Rapper's Delight at karaoke one night- fail.

Disco gets interesting, looked at from several angles...

I'm pretty sure I can say with complete confidence I don't like one disco song.

I survived the era as a blues/rock fan. Those were some dark days indeed.

Disco Demolition!

July 12, 1979. The Chicago White Sox were scheduled to the play the Detroit Tigers in a twi-night doubleheader at Old Comiskey Park. Admission was $0.98 and a disco record.

The records were collected for a "Disco Sucks!" rally between games, concluding in a massive explosion to destroy all the disco records collected in Comiskey's center field.

Steve Dahl was my hero on that day.

I never considered Flash dance as Disco.

Stripper iffic, yes. Disco no.

First R movie I ever saw, with a double header of 48 Hours.

I miss that drive inn. We used to all pile in the mercury country-squire wagon, put chairs on the roof, drink coolers, oogle girls, talk shiate
aaaahhhh youth.
