My previous cage was an 04' F-150 5.4l. I got 17-20mpg but my weekly work commute is 800+ miles. With the F-150 I would get 430 miles with 25gal (~17mpg). My Fiesta has the same range but I only use ~10gal ~43mpg).

The F-150 cost me $540/ month and the Fiesta costs me $216/ month. I'm saving $324/ month with the Fiesta, more than enough to cover the car payment and insurance difference. Oh yeah I had to put a hitch on the Wife's Escape in case I need to use the trailer ;+}.

I've never owned a Ford, family was always tied into GM. (have uncles that built, sold and repaired GM vehicles, all three retired and the one who owned the dealership sold his half.) However, I vowed several years ago to buy a new Ford when my Detroit Lions make it to the Super Bowl. Don't even have to win it, just get there.

No new Ford in sight, but my theory is they're sand-bagging til I'm ready to put my money where my mouth is in about 2 years.

I'm a little bit biased, as I work at a Ford dealer, but the Fusion is one bad assed platform. I like to talk to the techs, and generally, there are no systemic issues with this car. Everything has some problems, but there aren't any to speak of as a pattern is what I'm saying.

Should be a good vehicle for you!

R

Is there anything on the 2011 Mustang V6 that you hear the techs talking bad about?

The 2011 mustang is in a higher caliber compared to even the 2010, the 3.7L has good power,305hp, it's based off the 3.5 and 3.7 from the edge, taurus, fusion, flex and so on. we haven't had any problems with the mustang so far, they're still pretty new though. The suspension is dialed in very well, hooks up well, it is hard to burnout, it just wants to take off. The only thing I don't like about them is the electric throttle bodies it doesn't give the reaction a cable does. But you almost can't get a cable throttle anymore, the gt500 is even electric throttle.

Changed the oil in the Fusion this morning along with rotating the tires. By far the easiest car I've ever had the pleasure of doing basic maintenance on.

I'd like to shake the hand of the engineer who placed the oil filter in the easiest possible spot to access while preventing it from draining on surrounding parts and making a mess.

Pk, I bought a 07 Fusion for my wife in 07, we have the SEL (3.0 V6). 49,500 miles so far. We drove the I4 and the AWD V6, but went with the regular front wheel drive. With the mountains here I wanted plenty of climbing power. It's been a great car.

Problems - Buzzy speaker in the front passenger door, dealer fixed with a little adhesive. I need to get the sunroof adjusted, it's not lining up quite right, I need to have that fixed before it gets bad enough to leak - you won't have that issue, or expense.

I've smelled coolant while at idle in the summer, but no need to add fluid yet, so where ever that's coming from it's so minor the dealer couldn't figure it out either. Whatever it is, hopefully it's particular to my car, not the engine.

Other than that, biggest problem, and I still kick myself over it all the time. The depreciation on the thing killed me! Driving it off the lot and knowing I'd never see the ten grand that just dropped off the value made me want to puke. I will never buy a brand new car again. Bike, maybe, but never a car.

I wounder how long it will take ford to put the 3.5 Ecoboost in the mustang. I guess the marketing types are worried that a "little" v6 will put the smack down on the v8.
