~looks like Ford has outdone themselves.~

I am not really a Ford fan, but I am seeing this as well. My father-in-law has a new Fusion (loaded) and Mustang (GT), I really like the cars. The fit and finish is a lot better then it was in the past.

Here are a few pics of the Fiesta's at SEMA this year.

Sorry Court, but I didn't see your post until after I left to come home.

That'd be awesome . . . I'd love to see some photos if you can snag them. The dealer has some of the ordering information. . eager to see how they configure it.

That circuit board hood graphic is sweet!

The "tattoo" side graphic on the white one is actually a factory option. Saw on the build n' price site.

by the way, to Court and anyone else on here...if you decide to purchase a new Ford in the future send me a private message and I will inform you how to get an additional $750 rebate when you purchase. I am the general manager of a Ford dealership and know a few inside tracks to extra incentives from Ford. I do need to know about two weeks before you plan to purchase to make you eligible for the money.

Darn the luck I only got 42 mpg on this tank. I think I'm having too much fun passing the slow pokes ;+}!

Thanks for the kudos on the Picts. My iPhone does wonders for a PHD camera.

I picked up a pair of 9005 Silverstars for the high beams. They look just a little warmer than my 5k HID low beams. I'll probably replace the stop/ running bulbs with LEDs. Maybe Superbright 3157. I can't justify the V-LEDs price.

Now all I have to do is find a good car holster for my PPS since I don't have a consul anymore.

Gotta roll

Got hi performance LEDs coming for the brake lights and back up lights.

These should make a BIG difference.

I also discovered that my iPhone will stream all the music via Bluetooth with the Microsoft Sync system. Waaay kewl!!!!

I'm getting kinda brave in the corners and passing. Corners are fun passing is good enough to pass most times that I need. It does lack when you compare it to the 1125. Still at 5x the weight and down 20hp it is fun enough. Still getting 42mpg average on a tank, that WILL make anyone smile!

Neil:

The headlights will likely need replaced as well.

I bought the lights, didn't have time to install them, and had the headlights and driving lamps done in East Troy . . it's not "German" .. but it's a heck of a lot better.

Where'd you get the lights?

LEDs are from superbright led. I have already R&R the low beams with DDM tuning 35w 5,000k HID and the high beams with Silverstars. I still am not comfortable with dedicated hi beam HIDs. Too long a ramp up when you need them.

The H13s from DDM were fine since they moved the capsule b/t hi and low positions. Some of the OEM Euros use a shutter that also works fine.

does the low beams stay on when you turn on the high beams? If they do then the ramp up will not be a problem.

Yes they do and at 50-70 mph on twisty roads it would still be a problem. In my drive the first 5 sec of high beam are usually the most critical! That would be well within normal ramp up.

Gotta drive

Did Anyone mention the auto trans the new fiesta Uses? It’s a dual clutch set up that’s actually similar in concept to what F1 cars currently use.
Each clutch controls a shaft that has every other gear. The computer
will shift the idle shaft to the next higher or lower gear as needed. When time to shift
the clutches engage a shaft that’s already in the proper gear for an instant shift.

No problem with the DDM kit. The H11b that the Fiesta uses has a different connection than the H11. It actually makes the connection easier since it is already set up to use a "spade" type terminal. The H11 uses a plastic molded socket that appears to take up too much room in this application. The H11b has exposed terminals. When you insert the bulb and rotate it to lock into the reflector, the bulbs terminals slide into the female terminals. This allows the leads from the ballast to be plugged into the female terminals inside the headlight housing.

Yeah the 6 speed auto is real nice. Shifts great and seems to respond quicker and smoother than any normal auto-trans. Feels almost as smooth as a CVT but better response.

The new automatics, the Porsche PDK is the one I am familiar with, have shattered everything we once thought about transmissions . . no way I'd order anything but a PDK in a new Porsche.

I was surprised how good the shifting is. It feels like it's always in the right gear and shifts smoothly. It will drop 2-3 gear and perfectly sync the revs to the right rpm. Better than I can do on the 1125, too bad it doesn't have the power, much less the weight ratio. Oh well triple or 4x the $'s and I could get close ;+}.

You really can't tell since it's done without any driver input, no select shifting and no indicator lights to show you what gear you are in.

From what I can tell from the 2 clutch autotrans:
1-3-5 are controlled by one clutch and 2-4-6 are controlled by the other clutch. I have not seen a power flow diagram or even a cut-away so it's just my imagination. It is must more responsive than a CVT.

not to divert from the fiesta topic, but I went to the dealer last saturday specifically to test drive one and ended up driving home in a lightly used 2010 Fusion SE. 2.5L w/ 6spd auto (not a powershift)

I've been driving it all week and averaging somewhere near 30mpg. Highway miles are around 40mpg while city is around 25. This weekend I should have the tank low enough to fill her up and get an accurate whole take figure for fuel economy. The numbers I have so far are just from the car's own fuel economy monitoring.

Finally, new cars are catching up with the fuel efficiency of what my '89 Mazda MX6 has been capable of for the past 20 years! (2.2L - built by Ford)

Been following this thread as we were in the market. I've been driving my 2001 Dodge Ram 4WD Quad cab since 2002. With about 2000 miles/month commuting the fuel bill is considerable. But we've held on to it because it was paid for and I knew we wouldn't get squat in trade-in. Two weeks ago I nearly lost the front driver's side tire at 70 mph. Replaced the broken wheel hub but looks like it needs another 2-3K part s and labor for a total rebuild of the front end. It's just plain shot. Went to a local dealer intent on picking up something small, used and efficient and determined not to pay new car prices. So much for the plan. Ended up with a 2010 (new)Hyundai Elantra. Racked up what I thought was an almost unbelievable $4K in rebates on a $17K car. Got the 10 year 100,000 bumper to bumper warranty and still got out the door for a monthly payment that is just $25 per month higher than my 06 Uly payments ( with side and top cases) 5 years ago. Not as sexy as the Fusion but hey, my wife's Odyssey just turned 250K miles so I'm sure there is another car payment in our not-so-distant future. Wish me luck - quite a difference droving this car compared to the truck

factory photo - it's dark outside!

Looking good. It's hard to argue at that price. I also got the 100k bumper to bumper. Ended up after all the bluffing and B/S I made my best deal and then hit them hard on the 100k. The 100k B-B cost me 1/2 the price (much less of my 1125's 3 year extended and I got a GREAT deal on the 1125.

Still loving the Fiesta. I've stopped checking MPG. It is consistant at 39-43. I try and do some hyper-miling and I can get in the high 40's. Kinda fun to play, kinda a PITA, especially with traffic. I'll probably go in for my 7,500 mile service next weekend (I've already changed the oil once on my "Dime".

My girl has the Hyundai Entourage mini-van, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with it.

A surprising amount of power on tap, and lots of power this-and-thats. Great stereo too. Everything folds up, down, into something else.

CAI without a doubt, preferably one that requires a tune file. I have a honkin' 93mm MAF port on my Mustang. (I think the stock is right around 80-82mm)

I saw one of those new Elantras in person yesterday. FINE looking car. I think both Hyundai and Ford have really "discovered" themselves over the past year or two. IMHO, both are kickin' butt and takin' names in terms of styling.

I couldn't even tell you what Chevy's lineup looks like now, aside from the Corvette and Camaro. I assume everything still looks the same-old.
